CMLL October 2025

Each month, we, Griffin Peltier (Hollywd’s Wrestling Rewind on YouTube) and Dalton Henry (no social media, smart guy), highlight the matches we considered “notebook-worthy,” rated four stars or higher, along with anything else we think deserves your attention. That might include bouts significant to the broader CMLL landscape, matches that were simply a joy to watch, or hidden gems that stood out for one reason or another. While October is typically a quieter month for CMLL in terms of in-ring output, this month still offered several strong performances, particularly on some of the non-Friday shows.

Must Watches from CMLL in October 2025

  • 10/3 – Bandido vs. Hechicero
  • 10/10 – Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon vs. Angel de Oro, Barbaro Cavernario & Niebla Roja
  • 10/14 – Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon vs. Averno, Barbaro Cavernario & Hechicero
  • 10/17 – India Sioux vs. Skadi
  • 10/17 – Mercedes Mone vs. Persephone
  • 10/31 – Barbaro Cavernario, Hechicero & Volador Jr. vs. Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon

OCTOBER 3
Bandido vs. Hechicero

This was for Bandido’s ROH World Championship. The match centered around an injury angle (yes, it was an angle) that made this match especially memorable. Hechicero is obviously an exceptional llave guy, but it’s not often he gets to attack a specific body part like he did with Bandido’s shoulder here. And Bandido did such a great job selling his shoulder that it convinced people for weeks that it was real. All of this led to a unique CMLL match that worked to the skillsets of each man. I recommend checking it out for a change of pace to our usual recommendations. **** (DH)

OCTOBER 10
Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon vs. Angel de Oro, Barbaro Cavernario & Niebla Roja

This match on this show was a diamond in the rough. Surrounded on each side by disappointing and messy matches, this one was a professional, clean match between the best tecnicos on earth and three strong rudos. Not the strongest endorsement, but in a month with weak Friday shows, this one stands out as a reminder why we watch CMLL. It had the always-impressive Dorada/Neon double moonsault gimmick to the floor, and ended with a La Mistica, which was absolutely the right move on this show. A show-saver to say the least. **** (DH)

OCTOBER 14
Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon vs. Averno, Barbaro Cavernario & Hechicero

Take the match above and apply it to this entry as well. Another excellent Sky Team match against three rudo counterparts who play their roles well. Some more cool work from Dorada on all three of his opponents, including one of the craziest arm drags I’ve ever seen on Cavernario. Mistico picked up the final fall on 10/10, and Dorada and Neon picked up the final fall(s) here. **** (DH)

OCTOBER 17
India Sioux vs. Skadi

This was the final of the CMLL Universal de Amazones tournament and the semi-main event of the all-women Viernes Espectacular. October can be a wildly varied month in quality for CMLL. They focus heavily on their women’s roster, but the quality of that roster is hit or miss. Each year it gets better and better, and I expect that trend to continue as the wrestlers become more experienced and the training improves. This all-women show was decent through the first four matches, but the final two were genuinely great. The first of the two was this. I’ve been becoming more and more of a fan of Skadi throughout 2025, and this felt like vindication for that fandom. This was by far the best performance I’ve seen from either lady. Quite a few big bomb moments, and a great finishing sequence that saw Sioux tap out her giant opponent. ****¼ (DH)

OCTOBER 17
Mercedes Mone vs. Persephone

This was for Mercedes Mone’s CMLL World Women’s Championship and was the main event of the all-women Viernes Espectacular. This match, with that crowd, is all the justification needed for putting the belt on Mercedes. This was destination viewing for those who may not regularly check out CMLL. CMLL agreed, as they put this show up on Triller for purchase instead of only behind the YouTube paywall. It doesn’t hurt that the match was fantastic as well. They had great chemistry, and Mercedes felt at home in Arena Mexico. The spot where she put Persephone in a chokehold in front of her family and threw water in their faces was kickass. Persephone’s big moves couldn’t put her away (much to the surprise of the referee, who had the most NXT Face maybe ever for some reason) leading to Mercedes forcing Persephone to tap out. A great match to close out an important show. ****¼ (DH)

OCTOBER 31
Barbaro Cavernario, Hechicero & Volador Jr. vs. Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon

After a pretty rough month for Friday main events, October ended with a bang. You can never go wrong with a Mistico Arena Mexico main event on a Friday night (unless Chris Jericho is involved). As Dave Meltzer put it in one of the recent Wrestling Observer Newsletters, “if you had a match with this third fall and this heat in AEW or WWE people would talk about it like it was the match of the year, and here it’s just a normal Friday night”. The wrestling was as fast-paced as you’d expect and the trio of Cavernario, Volador, and Hechicero worked hard to make everything Sky Team do look fantastic. The crowd was alive for every Kemalito and Kemonito interaction, including Kemonito getting blindsided by the little hell demons at ringside. Mistico is undoubtedly the Wrestler of the Year and Sky Team should be considered for Team of the Year. Great stuff. **** (GP)

You should also watch…

OCTOBER 11
Barboza & Difunto vs. Mascara Dorada & Neon

Good, not great. I expected a bit more from these four guys but the match still had some fun moments. Difunto and Barboza have a lot of chemistry as a team but matches like these really make me miss Zandokan Jr. to round out the group. The third fall picked up and they were rocking for a bit. This was the kind of bout that would stand out as exceptional on most wrestling shows around the world, but here it came off as just another strong Saturday main event that didn’t quite meet expectations. (GP)

OCTOBER 21
Averno, Euforia & Mephisto vs. Esfinge, Neon & Titan

Averno in a main event trios match in Arena Mexico is one of the three safest bets in wrestling. The other two are Mistico and Ultimo Guerrero trios matches in the same building. Averno and Euforia were fantastic working with the tecnicos and putting them over as threats. Neon’s bulked up a bit over the last year and it makes his beautiful moonsault to the outside look much more impactful, especially on a guy Euforia’s size. The tecnico comeback in the second is a fun time. (GP)

OCTOBER 24
Hechicero vs. Xelhua

A sprint version of their critically acclaimed matches in RevPro and Lucha Memes. Those were definitely better as the lightning match stipulation hindered the potential of this one hitting that next level. It’s still crazy to me that Xelhua is only 21-years-old. His future is bright. (GP)

OCTOBER 24
Barbaro Cavernario & Difunto vs. Mascara Dorada & Titan

This was a lively tag match that packed a lot in just twelve minutes. Even with the two-out-of-three falls structure, the match moved briskly because it finished in straight falls. Cavernario and Difunto were the perfect contrast to Dorada and Titan in the ring. Difunto continued his quiet breakout year and once again showed flashes of real potential as a long-term main eventer in this company. Kemonito and Kemalito added some extra charm with their ongoing rivalry. (GP)

OCTOBER 24
GRAND PRIX
Team Mexico (India Sioux, La Catalina, La Jarochita, Lluvia, Olympia, Persephone, Reyna Isis, Skadi & Zeuxis) vs. Team World (Diamante, Hazuki, Julia Hart, Kanji, Koguma, Mina Shirakawa, Shoko Nakajima, Skye Blue & Thekla)

The CMLL Grand Prixs are one of my favourite things in wrestling. Nothing matches the pageantry before the matches when the wrestlers represent their countries. My expectations for the actual in-ring of this match were low considering it involved the CMLL women’s division and AEW’s Julia Hart and Skye Blue. Thankfully it exceeded those expectations and had some enjoyable moments amidst some lulls in the middle. This felt like a breakout match for Olympia (who looked fantastic as the powerhouse of her team) and Kanji, who I hope comes back to CMLL in the near future. Persephone and Thekla put together a spirited finishing sequence where, in the end, Persephone won the match for Team Mexico. It could have been a lot worse and maybe there’s hope for this division after all. (GP)

OCTOBER 27
Hechicero, Volador Jr. & Yutani vs. Mistico, Neon & Titan

CMLL is great at finding someone with potential, putting them in a prominent spot, and seeing if they stick. It’s something that the mainstream American wrestling companies have seemingly forgotten to do. Mascara Dorada, Neon, Zandokan Jr., and Difunto are all recent successes in CMLL. We can add Yutani to this list. In his first main event (not counting Lucha de Naciones), Yutani proved he belonged as he was paired up with Mistico and did exceptionally well. Not the greatest match you’ll see this month but the interactions between Yutani and Mistico leading up to the mask pull disqualification makes it well worth your time. (GP)

OCTOBER 28
Magnus vs. Valiente Jr. vs. Villano III Jr. vs. Max Star vs. Rugido vs. Dragon de Fuego

The third Rey del Inframundo qualifier delivered the strongest outing of the three. It was lively and fast-paced and Valiente Jr. stole the show from the very start of the match with some impressive athleticism. His sequences with Max Star and Villano III Jr. The eliminations were well-paced and allowed everyone to get a chance to shine without the flow ever dragging. The Villano III Jr. and Rugido final two was pretty good and the right call. Villano should work well with Difunto, Guerrero Maya Jr., and Adrenalina in the finals. (GP)

OCTOBER 31
Espiritu Negro & Rey Cometa vs. Poseidon & Troglodita

Two of the best good hands in CMLL against two standouts from this year’s Torneo de Escuelas. Troglodita has a great look and should be one to watch as he keeps improving in the ring. Rey Cometa hit a nice tornillo down the stretch. A fun opener that set the stage for the rest of the show. I hope Troglodita and Poseidon enjoy Hell! (GP)
