VOW Discord

Post by Rich Kraetsch » Fri Oct 11, 2019 1:05 pm

Hey guys, as you may know, we recently launched a Discord server (http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/discord). We would encourage anyone that uses these forums to try out our Discord server and see what you think. Discord is more chat room than forum but it allows for a more open dialogue between VOW and our listeners/readers. Likewise, it fits more with our audience who are increasingly moving away from traditional message boards/forums and moving to other forms of social-based communication like Discord.

We aren't 100% decided on absolving the VOW Forums and simply moving everything to Discord but it has been discussed. Before anything happens though I do want to let everyone know about the Discord and give you an opportunity to check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Well, I'd say you probably need mods who aren't self righteous hypocrites if you want that be a real forum.

And AEW fans need to get a thicker skin and not get their panties in a nit about pronouns and people getting wary of "new car smell" wearing off.

It's pretty funny how all these people who crave inclusivity are some of the most judgmental, excluding cocksuckers you'll fnd.

That must have taken you a lot of time. I hope it didn't hurt your masturbation/tweeting anti-WWE screeds arm.

But on a serious note, it is actually a little sad to see what VOW has become. As a site grows, it obviously has to change or things won't work. But, rather than grow and expand in purpose, it has become a small subset of fandom with very rigid terms of acceptable fandom. And as new voices have risen and taken on new responsibilities, those people's abrasive and obnoxious personalities have become part of what people think of when they think of VOW.

There was a very nice period of time, back when the ROH 50 project was going on and people were more excited about loving wrestling than whining and snarking and snapping at people who didn't fit in their (please note, I'm using the proper pronoun) perceived bucket of what it means to be a fan.

This site, the podcast and everything about VOW used to be fun. And honestly, with the exception Jovember to Remember and bits and pieces of the Flagship, it's really not anymore.

RIP.
