Re: 205 Live Thread
Murphy was underwhelming when taking into consideration that my group expected Neville.
Re: 205 Live Thread
Murphy has been awesome since getting the call up. Nothing underwhelming about him and looking to see how the program goes.

Re: 205 Live Thread
He's been a step behind most of the other top end cruiserweights since coming to 205. Certainly not bad and he's a fine first guy for Alexander to face.syxxpakk wrote:Murphy has been awesome since getting the call up. Nothing underwhelming about him and looking to see how the program goes.
Re: 205 Live Thread
Since I've started tracking (1/30 episode), here's what I got on average:
Cedric Alexander - 3.333
Drew Gulak - 2.875
Roddy Strong - 3.5
Mustafa Ali - 2.833
Mark Andrews - 3
Buddy Murphy - 3.25
Kalisto - 3.667
So to me, I have him stacked right up there with the best of them.

Re: 205 Live Thread
My comment was about the weekend ending with a bang by getting a novelty return of someone who’s actually been a star in the division and has the mystique of abruptly vanishing 6 months ago without saying a damn word publicly yet. This is not about workrate, but about how Murphy’s top program insertion isn’t buzzworthy.

Re: 205 Live Thread
205 Live from 5/8/18 is a must watch.
Kendrick/Gallagher vs. Lucha House Party was solid, but really a setup for future stuff with Gulak
Tony Neese squash
the
Mustafa Ali v Buddy Murphy . . . oh man. people need to see it
These 205 Tag and main event singles matches have really struck the perfect blend of WWE's production and level of damage selling with indy-level work rate and high spots
The match quality might be more consistently better than even NXT (which is at least in part "developmental", tbf)

Re: 205 Live Thread
If this show was in a studio...it'd be the best wrestling show on TV since the reboot.
Being in front of a shit crowd weekly is the only thing going against it.
Work is top notch. The actual storylines are basic and simple. Ring based. Human stories are being told.
What they are doing with Buddy fn Murphy is mind blowing right now. Where in the fuck has this guy been?

Re: 205 Live Thread
Buddy Murphy easily "Most Improved" for WON awards.

Re: 205 Live Thread
I was all in on Buddy towards the tail-end of his NXT run, where he was basically just putting guys over. Whether HHH was just keeping him in his back pocket, waiting for the right time to re-introduce him, or whether there was something else up I don't know. Presumably, the fact he got the 205 gig suggests it's the former.

The Buddy/Cedric match was great.

Felt like it was a) peak 205Live and b) quite possibly the best non NXT WWE match this year.syxxpakk wrote:The Buddy/Cedric match was great.

Re: 205 Live Thread
Cedric v. Buddy was excellent. Just shy of Match of the Year type fare, but what a match. Very well built, as well.
I am dying for a Triple H booked main roster. This dude's resume is growing as a bookerman. What he does with 205 and NXT are incredibly similar in how straight forward they are. Building to big matches. Constant elevation through progression programs. I dig it.

Ced v Buddy was great. It was a tad long and lulled a bit in the middle but this played into the psych set up by Ced about weight cutting and endurance. Ced went off in the closing stretch bc Murphy was gassed. I had this at 4 1/4. Built was amazing.

Re: 205 Live Thread
It was a main event-y style cruiserweight main event. I dug the long form...because, as you mentioned, it had to be. They told you, before the match, that Cedric's plan was to wear him out. This wasn't going to be an eight minute sprint lol.Ferrante207 wrote:Ced v Buddy was great.
