wXw - Germany's biggest promotion
Re: wXw - Germany's biggest promotion
Axel Dieter Jr. is off - his final show will be a specially arranged one in Oberhausen on April 30th. The belief is he's going to NXT.
Re: wXw - Germany's biggest promotion
Gah! I only started watching wxw about a month ago and Axel has been "my guy" so far!
Who do you think he'll work with on his way out? WALTER?

WWE signing top talent isn't a conspiracy, WWE signing shit talent because they're important to someone else is.

I agree wXw have been killing it with videos to build up Axel Dieter Junior vs Walter.
The one the posted before the above one is amazing as well.

Fun times in Cologne this weekend with a big twist at the end...
Was pretty hot in there, but a great day with the PROGRESS show as well. Nothing dud on the card, and quite a few surprises throughout STTT.

So I just started getting into wXw the last couple weeks watching the last three shotguns and FAN. What are the must watch stuff from 2017?

Assuming you haven't seen any of 16 Carat weekend, here's every wXw match I've given 4* or higher to.
Ringkampf vs David Starr and Jurn Simmons: wXw Dead End
WALTER vs Ilja Dragunov: wXw 16 Carat Night 3
WALTER vs David Starr: wXw 16 Carat Night 1
Timothy Thatcher vs Jeff Cobb: wXw AMBITION 8
Timothy Thatcher vs Matt Riddle: AMBITION 8
WALTER vs Ivan Kiev: wXw 6/2
Jurn Simmons vs Emil Sitoci: wXw 6/2
Chris Colen vs WALTER: wXw 8/5
Young Lions vs A4: wXw 8/5
Matt Riddle vs Marius Al-Ani: wXw 7/1
WALTER vs Matt Riddle: wXw 16 Carat Night 3
Ilja Dragunov vs Bad Bones John Klinger: wXw 16 Carat Night
WALTER vs Axel Dieter Jr: wXw Frankfurt 4/29
Jeff Cobb vs WALTER: wXw AMBITION 8
Truthfully you should just watch all of 16 Carat (and AMBITION if you're in to shoot style stuff) if you have the time or interest. Can't recommend the shows enough. The best Carat tournament in almost 10 years in my opinion. There's other lower key stuff that I liked a lot that I could point you to if you get through this stuff.

Re: wXw - Germany's biggest promotion
I grabbed a Highspots subscription on a whim and realized they have a lot of wXw so I watched a fair bit today.
The 16 Carat final was an astounding match. I'm obviously not as invested in the guys in it as I could be, knowing them only a little based on what I watched last year, but was still blown away by the chemistry, the intensity, the atmosphere and the conclusion. Really great stuff.
But what honestly impressed me more was watching some Shotgun episodes that happened after the 16 Carat. It's not like any of it is groundbreaking or re-writing the book on how to tell stories or build matches but it's simple and effective stuff, and most importantly it feels like an actual world these characters inhabit and interact in. I feel like too many promotions have feuds and angles but the characters don't interact with one another unless they're building to a match, so it doesn't feel as real and complete a world as it could. I also find they don't let segments overstay their welcome so for he most part I'm always left wanting more.
I'm definitely going to get back on this wXw thing. Even if Bobby Gunns is absolutely disgusting.

Re: wXw - Germany's biggest promotion
This sooo much. Shotgun sold me on the promotion made me care about the characters and seeing what happens next. Alot of promotions who are putting together great dream matches just aren't hooking me on a month to month bases because there is not a feud or wrestler I care about. I loose interest after a while in the dream match promotions because there is no one I'm connected to keeping me invested.suplexberry wrote:But what honestly impressed me more was watching some Shotgun episodes that happened after the 16 Carat.
