Tiering the special attraction nominees

Post by BradPTBN » Sun Nov 06, 2016 6:31 pm

I'd like to get a better sense on how people tier the non-regular ROH guys that have been nominated so far.

I wouldn't categorize Marufuji, KENTA or Morishima this this list given their runs. More so those special attraction guys.

As an example:

Tier 1: Kobashi, Liger
Tier 2: Nakajima, Nakamura, Okada, KUSHIDA
Tier 3: Tanahashi, Doi, etc.

Complete nomination list for reference:

I'd even have a hard time with some of the modern NJPW guys in terms of considering them special attractions based on how often they come over these days.

Then again, some are never involved in storylines at all (Okada & Tanahashi), so they don't really "feel" like they are part of the roster.

That's a fair point Joe - in my example, KUSHIDA really shouldn't be listed. On the fence with the other two since their "attraction" days are still ongoing.

I'm most interested in how the Dragon Gate guys fall out with folks. Just kind of need a lead there on how to rank.

In checking out the Raven thread today, I realized I left him out of this thread.

Are any of these guys making your lists?

I'm hoping to squeeze Dragon Kid into one of my final spots. I love the 6-man between Blood Generation and Do Fixer from Wrestlemania weekend 2006. That match would make my list of desert island matches and it's my favorite go-go spotfest. I bought the dvd based on hype for that match and that was a big reason I got into ROH. I thought Dragon Kid was the star of that match and every other match I saw him in. It's a vanity pick but I'm hoping to fit him in.

I feel CIMA should be top tier with Kobashi and Liger.

I would put the other DG guys who made a big impression like Kid, Yoshino and Shingo (although he may be considered more of a regular) ahead if the modern New Japan guys who just never created the same type of excitement for me.
