Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
They should have saved Hero for the 16th announcement as that was a bit of a disappointment. Still a great line up overall though. Anyone heading to it? I'll be there the 3 days
Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
I can see why they did it, as they showed the GYV as deluded enough to demand places in the tournament when there's only one left.Ckkj14 wrote:They should have saved Hero for the 16th announcement as that was a bit of a disappointment. Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
Charlie Morgan looks like she's next up to challenge Toni Storm... and I noticed a wee dig at Jinny and the House of Couture there. I have a sneaky feeling that Morgan wins the title and Jinny gets angry that she got pipped to it.
UPDATE: It's happening on Day 3 of Strong Style.

If Banks beats Walter, especially with some BS, I'm going to be PISSED
Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
Anyone else going this weekend?
Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
Cracking 3 days at SSS16. Some questionable booking on day 2 but Day 3 sent plenty of great stuff up and the In ring was great all week. Match of the weekend for me was ZSJ v David Starr which I had at ****1/2. Also loved ZSJ v Chuck Mambo which blew away my expectations and Bate v Ohno

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
Surreal to see Ohno at an "indie" event
Just another reason HHH > vince, even if its a relatively small thing
A few more observations as I'm nearly done with night 1:
- I hate the Ally Pally venue. Maybe its just being ignorant as to the significance as i'm a dumb westerner, but the acoustics SUCK. What made Progress . . . well, Progress, was the atmosphere of ROWDY BRITISH FANS YELLING STUFF. With the wiiiiide open spaces and what appears to be a high ceiling, the noise is so diffused you don't get the same concentration of noise
Related to this - slaps, chops, and other in-ring noises simply are not getting picked up. This might not just be the venue, there needs to be a ring mic of some sort that needs to be installed and tuned to pick this shit up, because all the moves that normally pop are just totally muffled. It dampens the whole viewing experience
- The camera work remains spotty. It didn't bug me as the prior chapters (which began after last year's ally pally), but there are still way too many zooms - moments when they want to get a close up of a face, but the wrestlers move, so the camera is catching literally nothing but empty space. Feels like the cuts were toned down, as it felt less Kevin Dunn-ish, but the zoom has to stop. Just use the damn hardcam more often. This is particularly painful when a dude like ZSJ is wrapping some poor fool into multiple preztels shapes and the camera dude just can't keep up.
- This is probably just me, but I just cannot take Chuck Mambo seriously against ZACH FUCKING SABRE JR. The same dude that went through Naito, Ibushi, Sanada, and Tanahashi in about 2 weeks is gonna be even moderately pushed by a dude who comes out with fuckin' beach balls? Webster v lee was more believable to me, at least Webster had the courtesy of jumping Keith Lee before the bell to work from the top at the start
- Angelico looks like a neon green, miniature A.j. Styles, with that hair of his and gear
- Someone on twitter said the only way to get Roman Reigns cheered is for RR to wrestle Zach Gibson in Britain. Perhaps. It's pretty amazing how much universal, nonstop heat he gets from live crowds.
- I don't get Joey Janela.
- From the spoilers i saw, i can't wait for Day 2/3

This is a trip given how many times we were told "PROGRESS on the Network is only up to Vince". And the entrance themes on SSS16 weekend.
Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Mark Andrews added to Manchester on Sunday.
