Yeah, he vacated. He's expected to be out for about four months (going off this google translated article).

Akiyama announced he will no longer be entering the CC, and, (bar special circumstances I believe he said), won't be challenging for the TC any more either. Said it's time to give the young guys a shot.

CC participants will be announced tomorrow.

Anyone expecting any surprises? I see KAI, Manabu joining the usual suspects including Doering. Hoping a Shuji Ishikawa, Hideyoshi Kamitani return and/or a unexpected guest like Hideki Suzuki, Ryuichi Kawakami or Joe Coffey (longshot)

Net gain from last year for sure, the blocks look great. Block A in particular is absolutely stacked. Suwama seems the obvious choice to win block B but I could see that being a little too obvious. I'm hoping for a Miyahara vs. Ishikawa final with Miyahara winning as champ. He could take a couple of losses here or there to Doering or Zeus to set up challengers after the tournament.

yeah, what the rest said. This Carnival looks great. The A block is almost wide open and whilst block B is not as open, the match quality will still be top notch.

It's pretty telling how much better a place the company is in now compared to early last year and Akiyama's confidence in his roster since he feels that he can take a step back. Will be interesting to see how Kenso performs in this new AJPW.

KAI is off of 2/18 & 2/19 due to a concussion. Translation, KAI got his ass beat as his initiation back into All Japan. Never go against the family.

If he's got a concussion then surely he's out of the Carnival?

Totally depends on how long he is out. Doctors say he only needs to rest today and tomorrow to start with. The carnival starts on April 16 so there's plenty of resting time.

lol this is Japan. He's missing today and tomorrow's shows only and even that shows more concern over concussion issues than is normal.

I skipped the old dudes match but everything else on the 2/17 Korakuen was well worth seeing. Main event was shockingly great for a match with that much Jake Lee vs. Bodyguard.
