themib wrote:Not posted since the last iPPV (and what a shambles it was on the WhatCulture Extra service)... and now Wednesday is the next one, "Delete WCPW" from Nottingham. A good card on paper... and then two Import vs. Import matches got added to it.

*TRIPLE THREAT STEEL CAGE MATCH FOR THE WCPW CHAMPIONSHIP: Joseph Conners (c) vs. Drew Galloway vs. Joe Hendry
*WCPW INTERNET CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: El Ligero (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
*ADAM PACITTI TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT FINAL FOR THE WCPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: The Coffeys (Joe Coffey & Mark Coffey) vs. Johnny Moss & Liam Slater
*TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS MATCH: Martin Kirby vs. Will Ospreay
*Alberto El Patron vs. Johnny Mundo
*Bully Ray vs. Matt Hardy
*Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) & Nixon Newell vs. Bea Priestley & The Swords of Essex (Paul Robinson & Scott Wainwright)
*Primate vs. Rampage

Adam Pacitti is now the STEREOTYPICAL HEEL GM, naming a tournament after himself, and making a heel stable called the Pacitti Club with WILL OSPREAY in it (their shirt is a parody of the Bullet Club shirt, which given that Will is a member of CHAOS in New Japan is totally awkward) - it's him, his girlfriend Bea Priestley, and Paul Robinson and Scott Wainwright.

Also, the main event was meant to be a one-on-one steel cage match with Conners and Hendry, but Drew Galloway returned right at the end of the go-home show and inserted himself in because Conners was the one who gave him the neck injury he had. And the less said about why there's two matches exclusively featuring old WWE wrestlers, the better.
I should chime in (even as an ardent detractor of almost all things WCPW) and say that the Pacitti Club thing does have roots long before Pacitti's turn. Hell, I think the entire promotion started after a mock Pacitti Club vs. BX feud across other shows on their Youtube channel. It's not something that needed to become a staple of WCPW though. I kinda figured it would after BX was a thing previously, but that doesn't make it any less dumb. They really need to take the training bra off, drop the parody names and start taking things a little more seriously. Or maybe "that's the point" or some other stupid justification.

The import vs. import matches are a waste but I guess they realise that with the poor job they've done of building up any British guys other than Kirby, they're not gonna get any interest with having the imports face any of the domestic roster. It's better than having Bully run through Coffey in <10 minutes, I suppose. And it saves them having to waste time on storylines for the matches that could be spent on Pacitti or some other shit.

A few things got announced today...

*KirbyMania from Liverpool airs live tomorrow at 7:30pm UK time on YouTube. It will be repeated a couple more times, once at a UK friendly time and another at a US friendly time, and will be available on demand to WhatCulture Extra subscribers. Only three matches from the card have been announced - Cody Rhodes vs. Zack Sabre Jr. for the WCPW Internet Title (depending on if Cody can make it to the UK from Japan in time), Marty Scurll vs. Gabriel Kidd, and Ivelisse vs. Lana Austin.
*Lights Out will be taped on Friday in Manchester, and will be exclusive to WhatCulture Extra as of January 13th; the winner of the Cody/ZSJ match in Liverpool defends the title against Ricochet, and Drew Galloway defends the WCPW World Title against Bully Ray.
*Loaded moves back to Monday nights on YouTube at 8pm UK starting on January 16th - it will have two replays, and presumably no matches from it will be archived on YouTube; WhatCulture Extra subscribers will still get early VOD access for the next couple of months.
*Loaded will go LIVE every week starting from March 6th.
*Drago and Pentagon Jr. will appear at the next iPPV, "True Destiny", on February 12th in Milton Keynes, and at the Loaded tapings in Leicester on February 13th.

So WCPW is hosting a 64-Man World Cup Tournament that had got my attention.

I'm curious to see who they get to compete in it.

They're doing eight 8-man tournaments in eight different countries (though one of them is "Rest of the World"), with the top two qualifying for a final 16-man tournament held in the UK. So it's not all being done in one go at least.

They could not have made a less interesting card out of those names if they tried.

Tessa Blanchard is off the show tomorrow, as she's working on a secret project (same reason why she's off next weekend's Wrestle Circus show), Bea Priestley will face a new opponent.

No Penta El Zero M either due to "unforeseen personal circumstances".

They've announced some details of the Pro Wrestling World Cup - the Scottish qualifiers will be with SWA in Motherwell, the Canadian qualifiers will be with Smash Wrestling in Toronto, the German qualifiers will be with GWF in Berlin, and WCPW will hold their own qualifiers for Mexico in Coventry. It kicks off with the English qualifiers in Nottingham next month. Details on the USA, Japan and the Rest of the World will come soon.

The final 16 man tournament will be held between August 23rd-26th, with the last two days at WCPW's home base of Newcastle.

The English & Mexico groups look fantastic & should be a ton of fun. Scotland looks solid & I've got no idea about the German one (only guy I've seen is Axel Dieter Jr). I love how they put El Ligero in the Mexico group. It's basically 'screw it, if he dresses like a luchador, he's a Mexican'.

No way this happens as is, skeptical they even told these guys they were going to be in a tournament together before they announced it - people would've already pulled out or been pulled out by their promoter if they knew.
