This kind of got lost in the shuffle, but i'm going to go back through this later this weekend and update everything.

Please make a post/case for any wrestler who debuted between 9/1/14 & 8/31/15.

If the wrestler debuted after 9/1/15, they would be 2016 rookies by the WON Awards criteria, but I suppose if they were REALLY good, people would vote for them this year anyway.

Is the purpose behind the award to pick who will be the best in the future or who did the most so far?

Based on my limited scope (WWE, NJPW, ROH), if it was the former, I'd pick Chad Gable. If it's the latter, probably Cody Hall or Dana Brooke.

This really is a loaded year, especially if you count Finlay.

The DDT guys are tremendous (especially Higuchi).

Kazusada Higuchi's got the 'IT' factor, dude's incredible and if he had debuted in the 80s AJ/NJ, he'd be on Jumbo/Tenryu/Choshu levels of warrior aura and star power.

Braun Stowman doesn't have a prayer of winning obviously but WWE has largely done a masterful job at protecting him SO FAR.

Was talking to someone a few days ago about him. His call up was exactly what you would expect. They brought to WWE TV after 14 matches and he worked a dark match before WWE Main Event in early June and Vince went:

I hope either White and Finlay end up being eligible.

White I see as a lock to be eligible as whatever experience he has is in places that are so low profile that no records are available anywhere. As in, literally anywhere.

Finlay's debate lies in the ASW stuff talked about earlier in the thread. He was a known commodity last year among super hardcores, but I suspect he's going to get a ton of votes and that dave will count him this year. Same for Hall, who obviously has no chance to win.

The stated criteria is the rookie who had the best year THIS year, and that future potential should not be considered. Just like real sports ROY's.

Curious as to why you think he has no chance. Is it the quality of his work? Because in terms of where he stands today, he is clearly the highest up the card of the NJPW rookies.

So there's Hall, Gable, Strowman, Brooke, Finlay, White, Higuchi...who else?

I've been really impressed with Ishida and Yamamura's performances on Dragon Gate shows this last month but I don't think they'll get enough of a true "tape" on them until awards this year.

Sorry for all the different video hosts but that's the way Puro is released now

Larry, that 2/5 DNA match will sell you on both guys. Higuchi is drawing comparisons to young Tenryu, and it isn't even crazy. You'll dig him. And keep in mind that he was like WEEKS in at that point.

DDT is churning out tons of talent on these DNA shows.
