I didn't read spoilers, so I got excited when I heard American Alpha was gonna be on last night. Then when Joe and Sami's music hit, I was like AA isn't happening tonight. Haha.

Joe and Sami was solid, but it didn't need the whole block this week to be great. They would've done just as well with 25 or 30. I want my damn American Alpha! Kudos for them announcing those matches up front though to make it seem more of a surprise the main event guys just kept going and going and going!

I partly wrote about it this morning but I might as well do it again - the AAA/LU luchador mentioned in the WON as hoping to head to NXT is most likely Hijo del Fantasma/Cuerno. He speaks much better English than Fenix/Pentagon/whoever else, he's taller and in great shape. He's got the connection with Sombra & Dark Angel from when they all were in CMLL. The only thing holding him back before was WWE only looking for one Mexican at a time and only looking for people who were giant stars (which he hasn't been), but times seem like they're changing. He would fit in and do well.

The thing holding Fantasma back now is whatever contract he's under - the story has always been that the AAA guys were asked/told to sign whatever was the original and harshest version of the Lucha Underground contract, which probably includes the dreaded seven season length. At the pace they're going, that would be over in 2021. Fantasma - or whoever it is - probably can't actually go anywhere and knows it, which means this is about sending a message as much as acting on something - Fantasma is part of Konnan's crew and is not on Rey de Reyes and would figure to be not too happy about the current state of AAA.

Deonna, Hollis and Skyler seem to be headed to NXT Dallas:

Might be the reason for this tweet.

Can Cuerno not ask for his release? Or would LU not give him that, in part due to their grudge against WWE?

When I first heard the news, Fantasma was the first name I thought of. I think he would do well in WWE, but these LU contracts are super sticky.

Lucha Underground has a grudge against WWE, and totally not the other way around? You live and learn.

The sooner this is the women's main event scene on TV the better

Anyone else feeling this way? I think it's due to the fact that we have known the Takeover card or weeks now (WWE themselves spoiled it) so it's hard to invest when you already know where they're going.
Forgot to reply to that. When Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio this week that Ryan Ward wasn't the NXT writer anymore I asked around.

The roster seems to dislike the NXT TV show currently much, much more than the internet does - obviously it is their method of getting noticed and called up to the big time. There isn't much character development going on.

Ryan Ward has been gone a while. There was an interim writer that replaced Ward who was only there a month or so. The writer who has been writing for NXT the past while and will do so after Wrestlemania is a writer's assistant from the main roster who has worked for WWE for 4 years and has a pretty low profile online. I am not sure if I can name him so I won't.

Meltzer kind of got it wrong. Ryan Ward didn't write the TVs going into NXT Dallas. The new writer just carried out Ryan Ward's vision on a number of things. The real changes will begin after Wrestlemania weekend.

Opinions on the change and the new writer are pretty bad even from the guy's friends. It is a step down. It is too early cast complete judgement but the nice flourishes, tying things into a bow, rewarding viewers for paying attention etc aspects have been missing for some time now.

Ultimately it is Triple H's baby so things will never go completely to shit NXT wise and Ryan Ward could be brought back.

Can we make it official that Enzo/Cass/Carmella are completely done with NXT? Give them a few weeks off to redebut on the post Mania Raw?

While he has denied claims that WWE is interested in him, Humberto Garza Jr (the cousin of Hector Garza) was at the WWE Performance Center today. He has been wrestling for seven years and competed as both El Hijo del Ninja and El Ninja Jr.

Whomever called this a secret tryout wasn't lying. I shook every branch and couldn't get anything. Garza isn't the only Luchadore at the PC I do know that.

There's another tryout next week for models and jocks. Tough Enough seems to have been a good recruitment tool as they still seem to be examining entrants.
