Absolute Intense Wrestling thread

Post by Mike » Fri Jul 03, 2015 8:51 pm

The good people over at AIW have a damn jampacked blockbuster of a show coming up next Friday in a sold out building that looks awesome, so visually should make for some good sight lines on video. AIW is a good mix of a super indy + old school ECW + 80s Memphis.

And this may be the only match all year to feature TNA, Lucha Underground, NXT, New Japan, Global Force, and ROH combined.

Absolute Championship: Josh Alexander (c) vs. Rickey Shane Page
Intense Championship: Davey Vega (c) vs. BJ Whitmer
Tag Team Championship: Cheech/Colin Delaney (c) vs. Tracy Williams/Tyson Dux
Women's Championship: Veda Scott (c) vs. Athena
Cleveland Street Fight: Ethan Carter III/Samoa Joe/Matt Cross/Ray Rowe/Zema Ion vs. Josh Prohibition/Matt + Nick Jackson/Johnny Gargano/Alex Daniels
Anything Goes: Nick Gage vs. Tim Donst
I QUIT: Ethan Page vs. Eddie Kingston
Six-Way Scramble: Cedric Alexander vs. Candice LeRae vs. Tyler Thomas vs. Louis Lyndon vs. Flip Kendrick vs. ???
Greg Iron/Benjamin Boone/Joey Martini/JERRY vs. Joshua Singh/Frankie Flynn/Kaplan/Brian Carson
and don't forget-

Big AIW fan here! Usually purchase most of their stuff from Smart Mark. Gotta say though, that JT Lightning tournament was as flat as a pancake. Absolution looks good on paper despite the Alexander/RSP match losing some steam with Josh's retirement announcement.

Donst's AMA is worth reading:

Video from JLIT with Donst and Gage setting up the match on Friday night.

And yeah, great read Rovy. Really happy for Tim and that things thank God have gotten better. I've known him for a few years now and he's just really one of the nicest people I've met in wrestling, so he's always been someone I've rooted for.

Seems like Tim Donst Day on the internet.

Heavy documentary but not off puttingly so.

Tim is definitely "one of us". Saw all his mistakes as a rookie in CHIKARA and was really happy for Tim when he got over the hump and became a good worker.

This should be a fun one, a spectacle if anything.

Heard the intergender show was fun. I'll admit I've fallen a bit behind this year, and it's a shame that the stuff on AIW's VOD service is mostly older content, as opposed to AAW who are veering more recent.

Holly/Gage should be quite something.

Tracy Smothers, Tracy Williams, ACH, Amazing Red, and Terry Funk all together this Friday.

Really good looking card with a heavy hitting main event title match, two great tag matches that will be different from each other but both good, and a real solid undercard with a Cedric/Candice match that can be really damn great.

Red is a legit first ballot indy-HOF'er, so it's good to see him show up in AIW. Kingston/Josh should be really fun as well.

Heard Funk ran wild, and Candice got her revenge on Cedric.

Apparently Funk ran wild as themib said above. Doing a shoot run in on Kingston and the Duke, which sprawled into the concession area and led to him shoot fighting whoever ran concessions. If John Thorne is to be believed at least.

Monsoon Classic runs the concession stand, so I certainly believe it. That jerk has had it coming to him for years!

Also, wanted to share this in case anyone on the board here hasn't watched it--

Was listening to the Uncle Mike and Tom show. Just heard Seleziya Sparx decided not to go back to Pro Wrestling. So sad I had such high hopes for her at one stage.
