Global Force Wrestling

Post by DXvsNWO » Thu Jul 02, 2015 3:13 pm

Didn't see a thread on this, so I decided to start it up.

For those who missed this video, Bobby Roode has "Joined The Force". He'll be at the first Global Force Wrestling TV Tapings on July 24th, and will be participating in a tournament to crown the first GFW World Heavyweight Champion.

Also, here are the names confirmed for the next three ballpark shows in Appleton, Wisconsin (July 9th), Erie, Pennsylvania (July 10th), & Lake County, Ohio (July 11th). The only match that has been confirmed for any of these shows thus far is Colt Cabana vs. Ariya Daivari on July 9th. Here are the talent scheduled to appear, though it should be noted that not everyone is appearing on all three shows (For instance, guys like Colt Cabana & Johnny Gargano won't be on all three shows):

- Nick Aldis (Magnus)
- The Bullet Club (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson)
- Johnny Gargano
- Colt Cabana
- Chuck Taylor
- "Darewolf" PJ Black
- "Sicilian Pscyhopath" Tommaso Ciampa
- Seiya Sanada
- Sonjay Dutt
- Kongo Kong
- Takaaki Watanabe
- Santana Garrett
- Cherry Bomb
- Allysin Kay
- Taeler Hendrix
- Melanie Cruise

The only talents that I think are confirmed for all three shows are Nick Aldis (Magnus) & The Bullet Club (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson).

Where TNA and GFW begins and ends is one of the great mysteries. It still seems like an arms length relationship and that GFW is poaching talent.

I guess Sanada and Watananbe are both Japanese, so of course they should be together.

Apparently Eric Young is working the shows this weekend as well.

Why are they promoting this as a TV taping and they haven't even found TV home yet? Which makes me think this'd be just another scam.

Meh, it doesn't really matter anyway, because by associating himself with TNA, he managed to kill it for me before they even started.

Well they are recording it so I guess that counts as a TV taping, so technically its correct.

Fair enough, but I don't think this is taking off.

The cleanest expectation is that the GFW shows will replace IMPACT after September.

They're taping it as a pilot to shop around to television networks. Obviously Destination America would fall into that category if they go through with their decision to cancel Impact. But most of the problems for DA with TNA programming would persist with GFW, unless Jarrett would be willing to take a lower paying deal.

Watanabe lives with (non romantically, to be clear) Sumie Sakai, and she books him out, so it makes sense that they are coming in as a package.

I'm amused by the speculation that Sanada is headed to NJPW based on a Tweet by Bruce Tharpe that referenced Sanada, calling him a "New Japan superstar". People think Tharpe let one slip, but Tharpe wouldn't be privy to anything like that and likely just saw a Japanese guy and assumed he was NJPW.

Now, could Sanada end up in NJPW? Sure, and I think it would be a good move for both parties. But Sanada wants to make a go in the U.S. and wants a crack at NXT. If he ever gives up this self imposed excursion, if there is interest from them, he's be nuts to not go to NJPW, where he could potentially be part of the next wave of stars.

I would hope he goes back to the Akiyama-esque gear. That crap he wears now is awful.

GFW named their non-existant TV show with a naff name:

The "market research" helped them come up with this name? I have really lost interest in this now that they pulled this stuff with TNA. Amped even sounds like a TNA show name. Good luck Double J.

He looks like a dollar store Hirooki Goto.

He looked like a legitimate badass when he first came over.
