This is a statement often thrown at critically thinking media and consumers, especially when it involves entertainment. Would this attempt at decreasing accuracy and substantial analysis be considered an example of the appeal to stupidity fallacy, or does it actually belong to a different fallacy?

Case by case basis

Indie Wire does SNL reviews that sometimes hit 800-1000 words on a single 3 minute sketch, delving into societal subtext that is almost always a figment of the reviewers imagination.

That's taking an SNL sketch too seriously.

Some would say I do the same with my New Japan reviews. So who knows.

This thread primarily stems from the lowest common denominator shit thrown at Dave when he debunks the carny narratives spewed by Prichard, Russo, etc.
