Bryan Danielson and Chris Benoit are compared by many people, because of their similar wrestling style, and also because they were never considered as main eventer because of their size, but they got what they deserved after a lot of work and effort.
Benoit was considered as the best North American worker since the early 90s, and one of the two best until about 2005 (with Kurt Angle).
He was a great performer also in Japan, during the 90s, where he had great matches with Liger, Great Sasuke, Black Tiger. He was probably the best worker in WCW and with Kurt Angle , he was the best worker in WWE in the first half of 2000s.
Bryan is considered as an excellent worker since 2001 and as the best worker in the world of the period 2005-2010. He was probably still the best American worker in the period 2010-2014, however, he didn't get the same opportunities to show his abilities in WWE like Benoit had, and for sure he didn't have the same quality of opponent (Benoit, in WWE had Angle, Mysterio, Jericho, Eddie, Shawn Michaels, Brock Lesnar in their prime; Bryan's best opponents where Cesaro, Rollins, Cena, HHH, CM Punk, who were great wrestlers, but not on the level of Benoit's best opponents).
So for sure Bryan's peak was in ROH and other indies/Japan like PWG, APW, FIP, wXw, NOAH, Chikara.
So, in general, who is the better wrestler/worker/in ring performer? The criteria of the comparison should be exclusively in ring ability (workrate, versatility, storytelling, in ring psychology, quality of matches, selling, execution of the moves), while you should NOT consider mic skill and extra ring abilties.
Is one of the two better than the other, or they are great in ring performer in the same way?
If it's possible, you should try to be as objective as possible, without considering the horrible Benoit's tragedy, but only his in ring ability
Thank you very much
