Wrestling Omakase #43: Fantasy Draft Vol. 1 (WWE/NJPW)

Post by IIDXias » Thu Apr 26, 2018 5:03 pm

This week's Wrestling Omakase is the start of a new fantasy draft series! I'm joined by VOW writers Alex Wendland (@AlexWendland), Andy LaBarre (@trillyrobinson) and Suit Williams (@SuitWilliams) as we each take turns drafting 20 picks from the WWE (male) & NJPW rosters! Once we're all done we then put together our supercards, and you can vote on Twitter as to who had the best one right here. Please only vote after you've listened to the episode, as the Twitter poll has minor spoilers since I listed everyone's main event to help people remember which card belonged to who. Thanks and hope you enjoy this new concept on Omakase; next time we'll do the WWE women's roster and joshi!

Correct me if I'm wrong, I may have missed it (you should definitely post the rosters and let us vote on who "won") but it surprised me to see so many people (BAD LUCK FALE!!!) picked ahead of Hero, Oney Lorcan, Ricochet, Metalik, and the like.

No card is jump off the page better than anything else but John's feels like the best top to bottom pick. It really captures the feel of the best of WWE and NJPW in terms of card construction. It has meaningful singles matches, it has variety, it has real storylines you could play into.

I'm still upset that I couldn't book my UWFI shootfight with Minoru Suzuki and Shane McMahon.

Alex probably had my favourite card, Suit had the sneaky card that might have the highest match quality top to bottom.
