Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

EVIL wrapped Tanahashi in a submission after their match at one of the anniversary shows. Getting a few wins with it in the Cup would be a great way to show it off. I'm not a huge fan of the STO, but he hits it with enough impact that it makes it credible, if still a lower-tier finisher.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

The English commentary on the anniversary show was standard stuff, though they really seemed to be worn out by the time the last couple matches rolled around. They mentioned the other belts ZSJ had and his desire to be a champion in three promotions. They also brought up his role in the CWC, but I'm...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Once, just once, I need Elgin to get a win off the deadlift super Falcon Arrow. Maybe during the New Japan Cup.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Couldn't Okada just defend the belt against Tiger Mask/Ibushi at one of the NJ Cup shows? Especially if it's another promotion for the anime.

Re: WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 - February 12th 2017

Anyone have any idea when the last time there weas a show with 3 women's single matches? I assume at least one goes to the preshow, but all three have their draws. I'm betting the title match goes to the preshow.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I go 4 1/4 for the main event. Okada sells fine, but doesn't do the little things that separate an elite seller from the pack. Like dropping Suzuki on his bad knee on the reverse neckbreaker. There's no reason he couldn't have shifted Suzuki to his other leg. Just nitpicking, doesnt change my opinio...

Re: WWE Royal Rumble 2017 - January 29, 2017

Everything up to Braun's elimination was pretty good. After that, holy fuck balls it was terrible. The ring filled up and no one was able to do anything. By the time we were in the 20's, and still had all three Wyatts and Lesnar/Goldberg/Taker, the half dozen people I was watching with were just pra...

Re: Rumble Rewatch Project: 2015

The fact that they used Kane and the Big Show in this role, in 2015, pretty much killed any excitement for the WWE product I had, and it still hasn't recovered. Especially baffling when you had other heels like Rusev and Bray Wyatt to use in that role. The way Show and Kane tossed out guys like Cesa...

Re: WWE NXT 2017

I feel like this past year for Nakamura has been entirely to test if he can fulfill the standard "WWE Babyface" tropes that the main roster relies on so heavily. Can he take a beatdown from a monster heel? Can he call his opponent silly names? Can he lose a match after injuring himself?

Re: Rumble Rewatch Project: 2010

Not to turn this into a CM Punk appreciation thread, but it still astounds me how much they left on the table with him. This rumble is a perfect example. Punk vs HHH was a cool moment, the kind if thing that, with the brand split, could only happen at the Rumble. And if I remember correctly, Punk an...

Re: Rumble Rewatch Project: 2010

Punk's run in this match is one of my favorite bits of wrestling ever. Everything from him was perfect. Hitting a Go To Sleep on Beth Phoenix was an ultimate heel move. Trying to convert, I think it was Zach Ryder, buying himself time to recover and throw him out. His face when HHH's music hit, know...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Other then a few minor things, Honma didn't get depushed when allegations of domestic abuse arose last year. I wouldn't write off a Shibata push just yet.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

The entire Bullet Club's absence is conspicuous. I wonder if it's the start of a split. Under AJ, the Club felt more or less a cohesive unit. Under Omega, it feels like there are at least two factions. I wouldn't be surprised if we see an official split soon.

Re: Official WWE Thread

I'm glad Jericho can add the US title to his resume, but man that main event was bad. Roman has regressed since his matches against AJ. I'll be so glad when KO and Jericho get away from him.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Okada vs Suzuki: In order for Suzuki-gun to look like a legitimate threat, they need to win some titles right off the bat. The idea that Suzuki wins and is beaten by a returning Omega is perfect. In the meantime, Suzuki needs other opponents. No one in CHAOS or LIJ besides Okada and Naito are a thre...
