Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I had bags of fun with New Year Dash. Suzuki-gun, Juice, Dragon Lee... even that goofy Billy Gunn/young lion staredown. Good lord, I'm hyped up for 2017.

Re: NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11

KUSHIDA/Hiromu: ****1/2 Goto/Shibata: ****1/2 Naito/Tanahashi: **** 3/4 Okada/Omega: ***** I'd have everything also at ***+, aside from maybe Cody vs. Juice. I understand the main event's divisiveness, but it's been a while since a match took me on that kind of rollercoaster. I went into the main as...

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

Great show, and a clear step up from Chapter 40 for me. The only thing I didn't like was the Projo tag match. The card position was incredibly weird, and none of the participants do anything for me. Sexsmith and Seb get full-on "go away" heat from me at this point. Sexsmith was great in the tables m...

Re: The BritWres thread (Big Daddy for HoF)

WoS was exactly what I thought it'd be: clean, disposable, family friendly professional wrestling. The work was okay (though I really enjoyed Gibson vs. Ligero) and it looked incredibly slick. The lively crowd definitely added to the experience too. I think the best thing about it is that I was able...

Re: Your 2016 new best friends

Pete Dunne. I got into BritWres pretty heavily during a period of unemployment earlier this year, and I binge-watched everything on Demand Progress within the space of 4-5 days back in May. The Dunne Brothers never really held my attention as a unit, but Pete stood out as soon as he started striking...

Re: VOW Flagship: NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11 Preview

I'm only 15 minutes into the show thus far, but as a Euro, this Spice Girls banter is tremendous. Joe's correct appraisal of Ginger as the best identifies him as a man of exquisite taste. Baby is overrated.

Re: WWE Roadblock 2016 (PPV) - December 18, 2016

It was an okay show, IMO. A couple of very good matches, a hot angle (Neville), and not a lot else. The two things I enjoyed most were Cesaro and Charlotte's respective performances. Cesaro's just a goddamn machine, and from the moment he smashed Kofi with that opening dropkick, I knew he was gonna ...

What a great idea for a thread. I have two requests:-

1. Carmella burial compilation
2. Pokeyman Go.

Strong Kray twins vibe from Regal and Brookside in that video. Regal looks utterly fed up of (presumably) answering the same questions he's been fielded endlessly over the past few days.

I'm still moderately anxious, but we'll see.

Re: TNA: It still exists, kind of!

I watched Total Nonstop Deletion hungover this morning, which was a hell of an experience, and I thought it was a lot of fun. I've watched the odd Impact episode over the past couple of years just to try and keep up with whatever's going on there, but it never really sticks. Think I've watched most ...

Re: VOW Flagship: Wrestle Kingdom 11, Roadblock: End of the Line & more!

Another great episode. The Enzo breakdown was out of this world. Why didn't we get this kind of analysis from Cole and Graves live as it was happening? Silly WWE. "Old and comfortable." I've been trying to find a way to summarise why I think NXT's, ahem, takeover by old indie vets has sapped much of...

Re: The BritWres thread (Big Daddy for HoF)

I'm feeling, shall we say, healthily concerned but not doom and gloom, simply because we really don't know enough. This will probably shake out nicely for some guys and leave others with regrets, which is how life goes, and how business goes. It will lead to some changes, but since we don't know wh...

This is veering dangerously close to something I'd be willing to part cash with for now.
