Jun said he would like to see Lee fight for the Triple crown in spring or summer.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Well they seem to be doing radical things. They have kento as youngest champion ever.

I'm not sure if they're gonna bring that four pillars concept back, Kento said he wants to creat a new era and style for Ajpw for the next generation.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

They stopped doing that. They only going to run it twice rarely.

I expect Jake Lee to win the Champion Carnival, they want to push young guys plus he is tall.

Shriashi has nothing to do with this Ajpw anymore, he doesn't own it and nobody wants him back.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Ajpw also has a policy not to paper much these days. Noah papers their crowds hence somewhat dead crowds due to people who don't follow Noah are uninterested and confused in the product.

Re: NOAH - Who is NOAH's savior??

Jado and Gedo and not traditional, they had Gotoh win his return match when you are expected to lose it in Njpw.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

They broke even anyways. There's shows Mutoh claimed that was 1200 there but it was really 980 before. But he managed to get actual 6000 to 8000 paid fans to the sumo hall via promoting the hell out of it and then making a small profit.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Jun vs Suwama was great. Every match has been great this year.

Not sure why people think Ajpw is far removed from the 90's Ajpw. It's closer to it in booking and style compared to all other promotions out there now.

Re: NOAH - Who is NOAH's savior??

I'm all for pivoting out of an unsuccessful situation. That being said, I have no desire to see a "lite" edition of NJPW. With the Lion's Gate deal, NJPW already can have their AAA company. If they are trying to turn NOAH into a NJPW style promotion, I have to ask the question; What is the point? S...

Re: NOAH - Who is NOAH's savior??

True, nothing was bad in the ring. I always felt if the crowd had been alive, this would've been a good show. I went ***½ on both Ishimori/Kenou & the KES match, and i agree on the two others. The crowd killed everything here. If someone ever says a crowd can't ruin the in-ring product, i'll show t...

Re: The 90's NJPW heavyweight scene

It's funny, because the modern New Japan heavyweight style is much closer to the old King's Road style than the old Strong Style. It's sort of All Japan meets modern North American main events. Yeah, the bookers and Tanahashi wanted a more American style promotion. Tanahashi loves the 80's American...

Re: The 90's NJPW heavyweight scene

Njpw 90's was great, expecting it be a workrate big bombs fed on the level of Ajpw 90's is silly. And it didnt have to be, it was fine. Chono had his own appeal, Mutoh too, they also outdrew Ajpw 90's guys and scored higher tv ratings. Njpw didn't expect workers to conform to a set style like Ajpws ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

The thing with Oka is that I have no hope that the current NJPW will allow him to work like a guy with his background traditionally would in that company. At best we'll get one or two minutes of token mat wrestling before going right into the typical modern NJPW style. A lot of the excitement seems...
