Re: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles (TNA 12/11/05)

It would probably make my list. My favorite match from Samoa Joe's annus mirabilis and also my favorite Styles babyface performance.

Re: Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Kenta Kobashi (NOAH 03/01/03)

I'm a relative novice to the world of wrestling so I can actually say this is the first match I ever fell in love with. Without even knowing the history of the Misawa/Kobashi rivalry besides they were supposed to be good, I was blown away. The winning quality of the match is, even without any backst...

Re: CM Punk vs. John Cena (WWE 07/17/11)

Like the movie Step Brothers, I think this match holds up better, the less and less you watch it. Tremendously booked match (to say nothing off the weeks following) and Cena was a genius in a subtle heel role in front of that Chicago crowd. However, I don't think the work holds up to make me say it'...

Re: Davey Richards vs. Michael Elgin (ROH 03/31/12)

Nah, Elgin & Davey just didn't know how or when to stop. Traded nearfalls & bomb throwing for logic and those nearfalls & bombs quickly lost any meaning, value, or excitement. To be fair, it's not like they lost the crowd tho.

Re: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks (WWE 08/22/15)

It probably would be a bottom-50 contender. I actually prefer the story of the Iron Man match to this one but the spots in this, especially the top rope reverse rana, feel so damn transcendent and satisfying.

Re: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE 4/29/12)

Yeah, this would be up there as best WWE match ever. Lesnar brought a sense of unpredictability and danger that few monster heels have ever realized. And Cena was fantastic as the guy who had to adjust to being unexpectedly transported into another world and having to adapt to escape it.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (WWE 01/25/2015)

It might contend for the lowest of the low end of a top 100 list. An incredible sprint of a match and further proof Seth Rollins will have a better run as a babyface after this heel run ends. The dive onto the announce table and Phoenix Splash tease gave incredible gravitas to the moment. I'd probab...

Re: Fenix vs Mil Muertes (LU 1/25/15)

The arguably best thing to hit episodic TV in 2015 (although the Spud/EC3 Hair vs. Hair match is right there) and probably the best casket match ever, but it's not a transcendent match to me. Just a very good one.

Re: Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE 04/06/2014)

I am also in the belief this is a good match but not a great match. I think HHH's performance is a bit overblown here due to him not slowing the match to a complete crawl with his usual boring big match heat segments. Doesn't necessarily mean I thought he was incredible in his control segments here ...

Re: Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi (NJPW 04/07/13)

This is a match that I only just now began to appreciate because of its role in the overall story I believe they are telling with the Okada/Tana feud. Like many others, Okada's constant use of his arm after Tanahashi spent all his time trying to destroy & it clearly supposed to be sold as destroyed ...

Re: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kota Ibushi (NJPW 01/04/15)

Instantly became one of my favorite matches ever. Despite the IRL minimal age difference, Ibushi had a star-making performance as the cocky, unafraid upstart who dared to play mind games on the top star Nakamura. Both Nakamura & Ibushi's strikes were so damn brutal and Ibushi's punch drunk selling w...

Re: Torneo Cibernetico (CMLL 4/18/97)

It probably wouldn't make my list but it's a very fun showcase for almost every individual wrestler here and I love how they wove the dynamics of the wrestlers' relationships with each other here. Dr. Wagner Jr. sticking up for Silver King especially. Felino running through everyone at the end for t...

Re: Akira Hokuto vs. Shinobu Kandori (AJW 04/02/93)

On the shortlist for greatest match I've ever seen. Hokuto gives maybe the best performance I've ever seen, a constant persona of desperation. Hokuto clocking Kandori & getting on the mic to talk crap, only for Kandori to viciously try to rip Hokuto's arm off as revenge, is an incredible opening str...

Re: Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (WWF 08/29/94)

It's a match that probably could've worked if they conveyed a story of Bret wanting to escape so often because he still didn't want to fight Owen and Owen wanting to escape because he wanted to beat his big brother again one more time. But this match didn't convey that nuance at all and just seemed ...
