Re: Fenix vs Mil Muertes (LU 1/25/15)

Agreed on Muertes being a star, here, but I'm not sure there's much more to praise in a context like this project. It's a fun match, it's a very good match, even, but there's just too many points that keep it down (issues of selling and too much length in the pauses to set up Fenix' hope spots). It'...

Re: John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE 08/18/13)

The second punch that Summerslam 2013 delivered. While reality is never fair, on this night, Bryan cemented himself as WWE's next big thing. No more fitting of this is it all happening in the same arena Cena won his first world title. The story was woven so beautifully, with Cena "the entertainer" n...

Re: El Mariachi vs. Blue Panther (AAA 10/30/1994)

Easy yes. Gun to head, this is the best match AAA has ever produced. It's also a match that contains spots that have been replicated innumerably (most famously, perhaps, by Eddie/Malenko). Both luchadores are so crisp in their executions and it baffles the mind at how they can keep that fluidity goi...

Re: Worst Match of the Year

Fair enough. Though we'd lose out on the hilarity of IWRG ladder matches, if that would be the hard and fast case.

Heroes Inmortales should rather read Leyendas Inmortales.

Re: 2015 Rookie Tracking

FWIW, Arez (AAA) debuted 8 years ago. He's had short stints with Perros Del Mal and is a long-stay in XMW & PROLLM. He does float around with Belial, so he's getting a bit of traction this year, but I'm not sure if he really counts as a debut. One AAA match and nothing since? I stand to be corrected...

Re: TNA 2015: It still exists, kind of!

Apart from not booking themselves into a mess (which was clearly a knee-jerk reaction to try sell more tickets), they could have switched out the order. Sure, world title matches should go on last, but it was effectively Angle's retirement match. There was a month notice that he wasn't resigning, an...

Re: Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kota Ibushi (NJPW 05/25/14)

Ibushi winning a strike exchange against Ishii is just comically bad, and him having some of the weakest elbows in Japan makes it even worse. It's a spot that needs to just stop being used as the starting point to Ishii's matches, especially now as he works from the top, because he looks weak becaus...

Re: CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE 08/18/13)

Any MotYC is up for consideration, and rewatch, but this feels like an easy slam dunk. Hell, the show feels like a slam-dunk as the best Summerslam, too, wrestling wise. Two matches vying for MotY honours (Punk/Lesnar and Cena/Bryan) and a nifty ADR/Christian showcase. I'll post thoughts when I give...

Re: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks (WWE 08/22/15)

Definitely in consideration, and most likely to be in. I love Becky/Sasha more (the build to the double-knee drop here is irksome) but this one had the emotion of the big Bayley win. Watching 16,000 fans collectively lose their shit to two women putting on a blazing performance in WWE is a sight to ...

Re: Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns vs. Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista (WWE 05/04/14)

The terrible quality of the PPV, as a whole, does sour what I do recall of this but it's something I won't rewatch regardless. Bored by the beginning, piqued slightly during the middle and then exploded in the final segment. No shot.

Re: Samoa Joe vs. Necro Butcher (IWA-MS 06/11/05)

What do you get when you put two of the best Indy guys, at their (relative) primes, together and let them kill each other? One of the greatest American Indy matches ever. I watched it a couple weeks back on the PWO GWE stream and it's even better than I remember it being doing the CZW/RoH feud. This...

If you're a context guy, that wondrous Japanese man uploaded a whole bunch of the 70s matches between those names, a couple weeks back.

Re: TNA 2015: It still exists, kind of!

Not sure how much money that's going to bring when The Hardy Boys were both on top, in the Carolinas, and BFG (supposedly) drew 280 paying fans.
