Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

As an aside, I bought the mystery £10 t shirt from NJPW Europe and it's a Rainmaker shirt. If anyone's tempted, now you know!

This reminds me, what happened to Chase Owens?

Re: WWE Payback 2016

I was really hoping for more here, they pushed the 'new era' stuff but then had McMahons arguing for half an hour about who's in charge!

That said, on average the match quality was high and I don't think they were ever going to do anything too huge on a B PPV.

ZSJ is brilliant, but only for that specific style. I happen to like it, but I couldn't binge watch ZSJ matches whereas I could watch Kev all day.

Still, tough choice.

This was much easier than it should probably have been... hard to vote against Big Nak these days.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax 25 (Discussion)

The wait is finally over.

Finally, Honma will win a big match. Just a small hurdle on his path to G1 victory.

I really don't think the war thing is an issue at all. The last person I heard say anything about the Japanese in that regard was my great grandad who died 10 years ago in his late eighties.

The general public are much more likely to think of Japan as strange/perverted nowadays.

Re: So what is the point of NXT again?

I think we're relatively OK with NXT talents making it into the WWE at the moment. Seth Rollins is the champ and Rusev is obviously having a bit of a run. There have been misses, admittedly, (Bo Dallas, The Ascension and Adam Rose spring to mind as workers who deserve better) but there are only so m...

Re: So what is the point of NXT again?

I think both are valid strategies, but the WWE need to pick a side. If they want it to be a touring organisation, then they need to keep guys like Owens to lead it. If they want it to be developmental then they need to drop the idea of it touring. Maybe the Brooklyn show will turn out to be a good i...

Re: The BritWres thread (Big Daddy for HoF)

I've got my tickets to the Manchester show, can't wait. I've fallen in love with Progress (your guide, Robareid was a great help) and I hope this is the start of bigger things for them.

Re: As NJPW looks to expand globally, will their name hold them back?

I think the lack of commentary is more likely to turn people off than the fact it's Japanese. Even without the name, the whole thing is clearly Japanese! The GFW thing has done a lot for them and the AXS thing is doing well (last I heard anyway) so it seems like the English commentary is what will s...
