Re: VOW Flagship: TakeOver, Royal Rumble, New Beginning & more

Don't you guys think Okada still looks kinda dumb for letting a guy in his stable who said to his face he was going after him/his title later?

I loved this. This is the type of show I need in my life.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Yuma broke some bones in his ankle yesterday vs Ryoji Sai and is going to miss a couple of months. So the Asia tag belts are vacant again and Sai will step up to team with Nomura against akiyama and Nagata to crown new champions. Obviously a major bummer for Aoyagi, who was heading into his first C...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Joe vs Zeus was fantastic. Some of these hoss fights/brawl-style matches really lose steam if they go 20 minutes, but this was far from what happened. Crowd was with them the entire time. Joe hit some of the hardest chops in a long time, great show of power from Zeus on all those Suplexes, some awes...

Re: VOW Flagship: NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 Review

I think Joe made a very good point about White's loss being a positive when considering his performance wasn't good enough to get him over in one match. In the middle of the match I was begging for Tanahashi to win because Jay winning the belt after a flat match would've been very sad. I think SANAD...

If you search with English terms, you probably only get expats etc. This is the Japanese searches: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%203-m&geo=JP&q=%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AA%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B8%E3%82%A7%E3%83%AA%E3%82%B3,%E5%86%85%E8%97%A4%E5%93%B2%E4%B9%9F,%E3%82%B1%E3%83%8B%E3%8...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

It really was a great show. Everything was at least good, and the last 3 matches on the show are must-see. I'm very happy the Violent Giants (great name btw) won. I would guess they're taking the belts from Akiyama and Omori at the New Year's shows.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

The only problem with New Japan subtly setting up Fale as a B-show challenger for Naito (assuming of course that Naito does win the title) is that they have absolutely terrible chemistry, as demonstrated in both the 2015 and 2017 G1s. Naito's offense just looks awkward against a big, inflexible guy...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Very late to the party, but that Yoshitatsu/Joe match was bad. Absolutely nothing to it and it was kinda clunky. Just a nothing match for a main event. Should've been just the Crossbody and the Powerbomb right off the gate. Nothing against Tatsu, I'm fine with giving the guy a chance to shine (altho...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

The Best Friends vs. K.E.S. and Elgin/Cobb vs. War Machine matches from today's show are well worth a watch. I've maybe seen a dozen matches from the entire World Tag League, but based on what little I've seen it seems like Best Friends were the MVPs of the tournament, although I can't imagine Chuc...

Re: Wrestling Omakase #20: AJPW Year in Review w/ Eyean

I really liked the show! I love AJPW as well, I think I watched every show that made tape this year, and my outlook was very similar to yours in general. It's very nice to hear someone else praise that 30 min+ 6 man tag. I LOVED that match. I introduced AJPW to a friend of mine with that show and be...

Re: VOW Flagship: Survivor Series, War Games & NWA/Tim Storm

The Jinder victory lap is interesting because I think everybody was suspicious or wary for a good reason. Actually, a couple of good reasons. I know why they did it, but why do it this way? Why appeal to a market with a heel character played by a guy who wasn't that good? If they had any, and I mea...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Watching the final match of today's show and it struck me as amazing/horrible that being a pothead gets one denied the right to compete but being an accused domestic abuser does not. And I fully understand the very strict cultural reasons why the former is a problem, but still... Am I missing somet...

Re: VOW Flagship: Zayn & Owens, Power Struggle, Bound for Glory, Dragon Gate & more!

The second we actually get some hard numbers indicating people are signing up for Jericho, I'll believe it. I'm just trying to gather where you're going here... do you honestly think there won't be a ground swell of American fans who sign up to watch WK? Again, it's just my circle but I have five f...
