Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Marufuji vs Akiyama was indeed fantastic. Absolutely loved it. Akiyama refusing to go down after a thousand Ko-ohs was great, reminded me of that awesome Jun/Kento match from 2016 when he also wouldn't go down for Kento's knees as he knew it'd be over if he did. Maru wasn't great throughout the tour...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Finally saw Miyahara/Doering. What'd people think? I thought it was very good if not quite as good as other matches they've had against other people. I thought it was really good. I would probably go **** 1/4. It was a very simple but effective story, Joe is a monster that is gonna beat your ass an...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

It definitely feels like a weaker card, I guess they don't feel like they have to load Sumo Hall shows up to reach 10k anymore and so they won't.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

I think Zeus will be the one to take it off Kento this time. But it won't be as a result of him winning the carnival. I think Marufuji wins the carnival since he is entering it for the first time in his 20th anniversary year. But AJPW are running a big show at the bigger Edion Arena in Osaka on Jul...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Haven't watched much of the junior tournament but checking out the 2.25 finals, Sato vs Kotaro was pretty good. Who's this ringside guy in the glasses, trainee? Don't think I have seen him before You're probably thinking of glasses ref Yes that's it. Thanks, completely makes sense. Anyone thinking ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

So according to the dude in the press conference, the winner can't challenge for the US title. Maybe they gave him the wrong info, but he was probably correct. If so, does that change somebody's prediction?

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Ok, so, unusual harsh criticism on my part for NJPW. Here's something I don't understand: why is NJPW running a 8000-seat, and then from what I've gathered, three 4,500-ish arenas, for 4 consecutive shows in Australia, that they delivered poor advertising towards, and then running a small, 5000-sea...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Hikaru Sato has agreed to rejoin Evolution today after a singles match with Suwama. Hikaru is back in the faction to fight the rogue IGF army led by Fujita Why did he even leave in the first place? The Evolution split was kinda all over the place. Aoki never left, is that correct? Hikaru lost both ...

Honor Rising cards are out. Goto defends the NEVER title against BEER CITY BRUISER. I don't care about the rest, already in love with this show.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Nagata and Kitamura was very good. Did exactly what it needed. Kitamura showed heart, but in the end he could overcome Nagata in the slap trades and he just got killed with the greatest Rolling Kick I think I've ever seen. Loved it. The Jr. Tag also did exactly what it needed. The heels worked the i...

I'm pretty sure Yoshie and Akiyama are only in the Carnival because Aoyagi and Omori got hurt on very short notice.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I really doubt that Tanahashi plays a part in Okada's 11th or 12th defenses. I'm sure he'll be paired with Suzuki (and SZKG as a whole) until Dominion, at least. I think Okada beats SANADA, and Naito stops him from breaking the record by winning the belt at Dominion. My first instinct would be to as...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

But at the same time, the Junior division is unfortunately mostly a mess it seems like, and a lot of the big cards, while good, I feel like could have better pacing and just a better form to them I guess. Some matches that should be "get in, get out" drag on unnecessarily on the undercards even tho...
