Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I'm fine with YOSHI-HASHI being in as the guy has had some very good singles matches ever since he was given a shot. I mean, earlier this year he had that awesome Ibushi match, plus his G1 matches with guys like Omega and Nagata (just to name a few) were also very good. Some of this stuff is in the ...

Re: VOW Flagship: BOSJ, MLW/ROH TV, Squirrel Meat & more!

I think having Ospreay/Mysterio in Osaka would be a mistake. The show's already sold out and people are already getting their money's worth if they watch it on World, considering how loaded the card is at the moment. I would have someone other than Ospreay win the BOSJ and save that for Cow Palace.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

The 31/5 Shinkiba show is pretty good, definitely worth a watch. Some brief thoughts: Yohei challenging Aoki is an instance of a guy who's not really at the level of the champ nor has had an impressive recent win/loss record challenging but the whole thing works, as he has been slowly annoying Aoki ...

Re: VOW Flagship: BOSJ, MLW/ROH TV, Squirrel Meat & more!

I'm not sure if the announcers mention that NOSAWA is BTVII, but I'm sure the angle is that everybody knows it's him. Okada kept attacking BTVII backstage during the build to Evolution/IGF, and I remember once Tiger saying in a promo something like "NOSAWA - ah fuck, my bad, Black Tiger VII" when re...

I'm fine with it in theory, but if they were going to do it I just think they could've protected him more.

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

TAJIRI and KAI is the perfect combination (while Mashimo is still hurt, obviously). TAJIRI is absolutely fantastic at being a slimy prick via mannerisms and things of that nature, which works very well when he's in tags and doesn't have to work an entire match. KAI on the other hand is just flounder...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

Ok, again, let me put this into context. This goes back to the Keiji Muto era. The 2003 Champion Carnival drew so poorly that when they ran the 2004 edition Muto flat out told the press that if 2004 didn't perform well they would no longer run the tournament. Couple that with how badly they drew fr...

Re: King's Road - The All Japan Thread

NJPW 4 shows @ Korakuen att 5927 avg 1481.75 AJPW 3 shows @ Korakuen att 4900 avg 1633.33 All Japan drew about 150 more fans in April. The press are touting this as a return of the "big two". All in all it's pretty exciting to see what a shot in the arm the tour was, but imo the guy who really dese...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Am I the only one hoping they don't do Naito/Jericho at Dominion? That seems like such a waste of a hot match when you have a US show one month later that is probably going to need something like that in order to do very well, even though Dominion is the 2nd biggest show of the year or whatever. I g...

Re: VOW Flagship: Okada vs. Tanahashi, Greatest Royal Rumble, Backlash & more!

Well, as far as the math that guy did: if they sold around 4000 tickets and most of them are the expensive ones, assuming an average ticket price of 100 dollars, they've already made US$400000. I wouldn't be shocked if they have already made half a million on this. I think Akebono's in the hospital,...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

After this Tanahashi/Okada match, I'm really not sure what other challengers are out there for the IWGP or the Intercontinental titles to headline Dominion. It kind of seems like we are heading on a collision course for Omega/Okada 4 or Naito/Okada or Tanahashi, but I can't help but feel like I'm m...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Watched the last two matches of Wrestling Hi No Kuni and after reading the tepid response to them all over the wrestling internet, I thought I would chime in here. First, the tag title match. The match started hot and but both teams seemed really unfocused as to what the story of the match was gonn...

I'm with Joe on the ladder match; it was pretty good, but I wouldn't put it near 5 stars personally.

Re: VOW Flagship: Twitter Stinks, Champion Carnival, Joe in NOLA

I thought KAI was fine in the Carnival. The Akiyama and Suwama matches were pretty good and the rest was at least solid. He shouldn't be getting TC shots or anything but I think he's fine as a midcard guy, eventually reuniting with Mashimo once he returns and such.
