Re: Voices of Wrestling - Invasion Attack, Octagon, Austin Aries, Mania Weekend

Great show as ever, took a long walk/jog during the entire NJPW talk and had to stop to laugh at the Camacho rant. My take on NJPW roster last year was really that it was an embarrassment of riches - like owning five luxury cars but your garage only fits two. It's always an interesting conversation,...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Something that hasn't been brought up but surely didn't escape people's notice: Naito talked about trying to avoid the Rainmaker before the match, and during the match he got hit with just about everything but the Rainmaker. I bet that plays a big part in the story going forward.

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

Yeah, I think Dahlia would pick Jinny for Polly's partner since that's a guaranteed bad match, and Polly counters with Elizabeth. Fun stip, to be honest. Looking forward to seeing the outcome.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Rewatched some of IA with the English commentary and honestly, it wasn't bad at all. Kelly and Corino had been prepped by reasonjp's brilliant translation & story explanations so I think they were on point in delivering the story each match was telling. Probably a great show for a new fan to jump in...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Weather was super nice in my corner of the world, debated heading out instead of watching Invasion Attack live. Glad I didn't, the sun can wait as Naito shines brighter. Ospreay debut was fantastic, but KUSHIDA showed himself as the veteran. The Liger match is something to be excited about. Also lik...

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

Chapter 10's comedy match was indeed a great one. I laughed my head off.

I'm half-way done with Chapter 27. Gallagher vs Johnny Kidd was marvelous, if this wasn't WM weekend it'd be my favorite of anything I'll watch this week easily.

Re: Sweet Sixteen - [9] Chris Hero vs [4] Tomohiro Ishii

Both of these guys elevate everybody they work with in their respective areas. I've loved Chris Hero's "the indie vet who is putting the next generation over" gimmick from the last year a ton, excellent matches in PWG or so but Ishii is just amazing so in the end I went with the Stone Pitbull.

Re: Sweet Sixteen - [2] Shinsuke Nakamura vs [3] AJ Styles

I love them both a lot, and I only own a Shinsuke shirt, but hold a gun to my head and I would rather watch an AJ Styles match over a Nakamura match. Styles made a YTR match thrilling in the G1, that's a level of talent we are not worthy.

Re: Global Cruiserweight Series (WWE)

I suppose I was giving WWE the benefit of the doubt to not fuck up something kind of cool when they do a lot of fuckery to "protect their brand" and whatnot. The hypothetical you presented actually sounds like something WWE would do.

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

(shields eyes from spoilers)

Any news on this Atlas Championship? I had hopes for a women's title before a secondary title along the Progress main one but alas. More gold for the Origin to collect and be hated for collecting, I suppose.

Re: Global Cruiserweight Series (WWE)

I don't know about that. Most likely whoever's booking this thing (probably the same folk who book NXT, since Vince most likely does not care) sends out a list of people they want for the thing, people either agree or disagree, and the promotions can decide to book "qualifiers" to create buzz for th...

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

My prediction for today's show is that the Thunderbastard match is trying to build on existing feuds and maybe transition into some new ones going forward, which will allow Scurll to scrape together a win in a heel-ish fashion. While I agree with the BritWres Roundtable guys that it's not a great lo...

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

ENDVR:16 was a ton of fun, outside the whole Body Guy promo, which the poor sound made unintelligible to me, so I just skipped it. Loved the six man, though, and the DND vs Sexsmith & Gimp match, and everything with Elizabeth & Jinny. Their storyline has been a constant highlight of ENDVR shows.

Re: BritWres Roundtable #12: wXw 16 Carat Gold & Will Ospreay to NJPW

I think I've got to join the side of the Thatcher dislikers (can't call myself a hater since that would imply a strong feeling on the matter). It took me three tries to get through the latest Progress chapter just because I kept pausing on the Thatcher vs Gallagher match and finding myself utterly d...

Re: The Joe Lanza Is Right Wrestling Is Pretty Awesome Thread

Yeah, I'm in agreement. It's easy to feel spoiled in this environment. Whenever I'm feeling "meh" about the amount of good stuff I want to watch out there (sometimes it gets overwhelming), I take a step back and appreciate the variety, the ease of access (barring a few exceptions) and the affordabil...
