Re: Official All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Thread

Prelude ramble: Around December '18, Jan '19 I got hit with the worst wrestling malaise of my fandom. I tried keeping up with my faves like NJPW but every raved match, every big angle, just left me feeling "meh" so I decided to call it quits until I actually wanted to watch wrestling again. Since AE...

Re: VOW Flagship: Bischoff/Heyman, Fyter Fest, Stomping Grounds & more!

I'm with Garrett Kidney on the "let the 90's die" sentiment, for all the reasons you guys laid out. There's also a huge demo of people who are fans now who weren't fans then, and looking back, don't even fathom what was so good about it, since so much of it has aged so poorly. If your "prime era" is...

Re: VOW Flagship: Dominion, KENTA, Dragon Gate & more!

I didn't see Dominion aside from a few clips (of Shibata pointing, and of Moxley cutting a promo post-Shota match) so can't comment on any of it unfortunately. I haven't seen the Naito Ibushi spot but both of them are my faves as well as masters of "oh did you HAVE TO do that" level of stupid spots....

Re: VOW Flagship: Moxley on Talk is Jericho & AEW Double or Nothing

I was Rich Kraetsching in late May / early June (visiting the US, actually! it was great!) so while I listened to this show I didn't want to post a comment on my phone. Now that I'm back and jetlagged, I got nothing but time to ramble. This Moxley podcast was monumental, and while people may gripe a...

Re: VOW Flagship: MOX, Lio Rush & Luke Harper, Champion Carnival & more!

Good show, pube talk aside. It's just astounding to me there are so many people trying to quit WWE or trying to get fired. The Lio Rush story has a lot of wrinkles and for sure he could improve his attitude and not take certain things as a personal slight, but the statement about being broke making ...

Re: VOW Flagship: WrestleMania Weekend Review, G1 Supercard & WrestleMania 35

I'm a European who's been to multiple foreign cities and I've been to New York and I've even had to hustle my way to Jersey a few times (Newark, hungover, long story!). It's not impossible, if you have knowledge of how public transport systems work. There is obviously a learning curve, too, so some ...

Re: VOW Flagship: AEW, Jay White, PAC vs. Kzy, EVOLVE & more!

I automatically grimaced, hearing the phrase "performatively woke" because at first glance it struck as dismissive of any effort to genuinely include diverse representation as mere performance of progressiveness. But once Joe explained his point of view, I kind of agreed with it. There is a real ris...

Re: VOW Flagship: Omega in AEW, Double or Nothing, News & Your Questions

I think the AAA relationship really gives me pause. It's a messy company in terms of talent use, but also in terms of talent exploitation. Especially with the LU lawsuit happening. If your brand is pro-worker (and yes, it's branding and branding is not reality, but perception is important) you reall...

Re: VOW Flagship: Ambrose & KENTA, Royal Rumble, NXT TakeOver & more!

Some people have speculated Ambrose is a "Punk" ie a person who lived for wrestling but WWE killed his love for it, so he may never return to it once he leaves. I hope not - this guy may be one of the biggest reasons I got back into wrestling in 2013, the Shield vs Daniel Bryan/Kane feud drew me in ...

Re: VOW Flagship: WK13 Card, WWE TLC & ROH Final Battle

Goddamn, that ROH discussion was so on point. They had such a good shot in 2015-2016. No doubt some guys would've ended up signing no matter what they did, but they were in a unique position to look for the next crop once Steen, Gargano, Strong, Styles etc were all known to leave eventually (I mean ...

Re: VOW Flagship: Dynamite Kid, PAC, NXT UK Deals & World Tag League

The microwaves at my work have the most annoying "finished" sound so I usually leave 10 seconds on the timer, which I then re-set to zero when I take the food out. It makes a pleasant "ping!" when you reset to zero, but when the timer is finished in real time the sound is unbearable. The BritWres ch...

Re: The BritWres thread (Big Daddy for HoF)

I listened to the BritWres Roundtable ep, since there's no thread for it I'm gonna leave my thoughts here instead. The lads pretty much covered all my concerns, but brought up some aspects I honestly hadn't thought about much before. The conversation about BritWres about 3 years ago was "how is this...

Re: VOW Flagship: ROH Best in the World/Title Change, Takeda/Kodaka, Bouncin' Around the Indies

Feeds not working is not really a question of data, it's more that it's a bitch to get on my phone otherwise. For some reason, browser downloads that big stall out and audioboom streaming really hates mobile Chrome browser. So I'm late listening, simply due to issues of convenience. Glad you guys lo...

Re: Wrestle-1 thread

I still need to see these latest shows! But honestly I want to write about this promotion at length at some point because I think they've been the easiest promotion to watch for about a year now, just excellent stuff all around, and whatever isn't excellent flies by so quickly you don't even notice....

Re: VOW Flagship: 2018 BOLA field and what it means, WWE UK, ROH, MLW, Impact TV reviews

Big fan of the Lanza TV reviews so was very happy that the bigger audience gets a taste of them as well. I had a take on the American indy star discussion but I no longer remember what it was. I guess the main takeaway is that nobody's actively scouting and elevating whatever talent is out there. Th...
