Re: 2018 Inductees
Nagata getting in when he's probably not even in the top 5 most deserving Japan candidates is nuts but Cien Caras dropping off the ballot is maybe even crazier.

Re: VOW Flagship: WK13 Card, WWE TLC & ROH Final Battle
Anyway, I talk for a minimum of 6 hours per week, not everything I say is gong to be the right combination of words for the point im trying to get across. More accurately it wouldve been "Two guys who will be in the Top 5 of a lot of WOTY lists". Don’t worry haha, it wasn’t intended as a Gotcha or ...

Re: VOW Flagship: WK13 Card, WWE TLC & ROH Final Battle
Ibushi would definitely be my MVP of the G1 behind maybe only Naito but the Omega match being a major letdown sort of hurts his overall case.

Re: VOW Flagship: WK13 Card, WWE TLC & ROH Final Battle
Hey,I get not liking the hyperbole. But, I would say that I'm not what you'd call an obsessive NJPW fan and that's my perspective in spite of that. But, of course, your mileage may always vary from anyone on who and who isn't the best at anything. It's why it's hard to do "worldwide" best of lists ...

Re: VOW Flagship: WK13 Card, WWE TLC & ROH Final Battle
Ibushi and Ospreay........ two guys who would be in the top 5 of any credible wrestler of the year poll what? Now, besides not really viewing either guys as top 5 locks (I don't think either would make my top 20), what makes Ibushi a super mega lock? Atleast Ospreay I can get it if you like his UK ...

Re: VOW Flagship: Dynamite Kid, PAC, NXT UK Deals & World Tag League
One of my issues in really caring about NJPW as a promotion is just how much of it doesn't matter. Every promotion has downtime, that's part of having a year-round schedule and dozens of shows. But NJPW seems particularly bad with it's scheduling at times. Best of Super Juniors almost always feels l...

Re: 2018 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards: Fan Ballots
Just my top number one since I'm lazy: Lou Thesz/Ric Flair Award (Wrestler of the Year) : Masashi Takeda Most Outstanding Wrestler : Kento Miyahara Best Box Office Draw : LA Park Feud of the Year: Joey Janela vs David Starr in Beyond Tag Team of the Year : LAX/EYFBO Most Improved : MAO Best on Inter...

Re: 2018 Lou Thesz/Ric Flair Award (Wrestler of the Year)
Omega/Okada will be the 1/2 in some order until the product cools off. Is it deserved? Guess it is based on how much you value workrate vs drawing power. IMO neither really has the in-ring resume this year to be considered. I think Fenix is a really interesting case here. Proven huge draw in multipl...

Re: Tag Team of the Year
Hard no on Golden Lovers as a contender. Only 10 standard 2v2 tags on record, with about half of those being much more than pretty by the books house show level tags. And their "high end" stuff (vs Bucks, vs Chaos) is pretty overrated IMO.

Re: Best/Worst TV Show
NXT has been straight up meh at times this year, despite producing good matches. Maji Manji so far and away stomps on everything else. The only reason it shouldn't be number one on every single ballot is if you don't think it ran for long enough.

Re: Rookie of the Year
DDT obviously treats young guys a little differently than other Japanese promotions, but it's still pretty undersold how much Yuki Ino has achieved this year. Went from having a handful of matches before being injured last year, to coming back this year and instantly being slotted in as an important...

Re: VOW Flagship: NXT UK Deals, WALTER & Your Questions!
RE: the Stars argument, it’s shocking just how little promoters watch outside of their own promotion. They spend their time livetweeting Raw instead of watching promotions with guys they could actually use! It’s baffling. Ask any lucha fan, Puma King and Bandido we’re not the best prospects out of M...

Re: VOW Flagship: Roman Reigns, NWA 70th, DDT Peter Pan & more!
The lucky thing for DDT is that supposedly Super Sasadango Machine (and I think Honda? atleast one other big promo heavy act) apparently can speak English pretty well. SSM atleast did so while doing his whole Trump parody gimick. So maybe a good English promo or two can help a lot at a live show. Ta...

Re: VOW Flagship: Roman Reigns, NWA 70th, DDT Peter Pan & more!
I mean I know the ratings argument was beaten into the ground ages ago but ROH drew their (at the time) largest house ever last year on the back of a zany supernatural gimmick. That shit gets over MORE in the US than in Japan. These things are goofy novelties. It's also a little more complicated th...
