What If Tetsuya Naito Doesn’t Get Hurt In 2012?

As the hours pass before what should be the crowning moment of the molten hot Tetsuya Naito, I️ was relieving some of his matches from the Stardust Genius era and some thoughts came to mind. Now we all know how badly the 2013 G1 through WK8 run went for him, but it’s easy to forget that Naito was a ...

Re: wXw - Germany's biggest promotion

So I just started getting into wXw the last couple weeks watching the last three shotguns and FAN. What are the must watch stuff from 2017? Assuming you haven't seen any of 16 Carat weekend, here's every wXw match I've given 4* or higher to. Ringkampf vs David Starr and Jurn Simmons: wXw Dead End W...

Re: Most Outstanding

If it was just about enjoyment of performances Thatcher would be my number 1. Since January he's had so much more life to his matches than the last couple of years and even as someone that's liked him for a good amount of time, the level of crowd interaction he's at now is next level stuff. He's als...

Re: 2017 Lou Thesz/Ric Flair Award (Wrestler of the Year)

I've been saying that I think this year The Elite (as a group, not separately) should be getting the nod at number 1. From Kenny Omega's success in the NJPW main event scene, the unbelievable success they've had with the Hot Topic deal, the strong, record setting numbers for every promotion they wor...

Re: PROGRESS Thread: The Fake Taxi of Wrestling

I'm actually thinking it'll be James Davis given the new solo push. I've also thought about maybe Rampage Brown answering. He hasn't been in PROGRESS since January, would be an enormous pop and it's a totally fresh matchup.

Thank you Speed Star!! Masato Yoshino Appreciation Thread

Yoshino is in what may be the best Dragon Gate match ever the more I think about it which is himself and Syachihoko Boy vs Jimmy Susumu and Jimmy Kagetora. https://vimeo.com/125997656 The passion here comes from the story of Syachihoko and Yoshino being best friends and winning the tag titles, final...

VOW Flagship: Goldberg, AJPW Sumo Hall, TakeOver & more!

You guys should look in to something called OBS or Open Broadcaster Software. Since I've been using it this year it's given me zero troubles as far as my recordings go.

Re: Chris Hero's 2016 body of work

I have 22 Chris Hero matches at **** or higher this year. That's without seeing any of TPI yet. I think the emergence of the "Chris Hero bully formula" as the most sure fire way to get a very good-great match is something that's maybe not appreciated enough. Even then there's adaptations within the ...

Re: DDT - Home of Danshoku Dino

Higuchi vs Ishikawa was aces. It was a fun show overall but that's a match everyone needs to seek out, even if you're not a hardcore DDT fan. That match proved that Higuchi could hang with the best the world had to offer. Star written all over that dude. Miyamoto and HARASHIMA vs Endo and Sasaki was...

Re: Favorite SummerSlam matches

Personally I think the Edge vs Matt Hardy cage match from '05 would be the only logical number 2.

AJ Styles

I'm doing a huge ROH deep dive and right now I'm at the end of 2002. Biggest takeaway, AJ had as many good-great matches as Ki or Danielson and may even be more impressive than them. I think his stuff during this era is criminally undersold even by hardcore ROH fans.

2016 Lou Thesz/Ric Flair Award (Wrestler of the Year)

1 and 2 are Styles and Naito easily for me.
