Re: Official All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Thread

DON has me back from the wrestling dead a little bit. In speculating about who may make the jump to AEW, is there anywhere a list of contract statuses that we have info on? Even just a list of people who recently inked a multi-year as I understand Owens and Styles have. Some are obvious, some are le...

Re: G1 CLIMAX 28

Is it possible that instead of a Tama/Omega singles match we're just building to a G.O.D./Golden Lovers match instead? Either at a KoPW or even WK? The Golden Lovers would draw at the Dome and G.O.D. as a tag team has a way better chance of producing an appropriately calibured match. EDIT: They teas...

Re: G1 CLIMAX 28

Gun to my head, it's Naito. Of the six Omega's got no shot. You could make the argument that if they're going to have him drop the title that it'd be great counterbalancing heat for him to win the G1 as champ, but I just don't see it. You need to draw at the Dome and you have a way to heat up challe...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I have a challenge for someone more NJPW-smart then I: I'm watching this Suzuki/Makabe G1 match and really enjoying it. Makabe always gives you like two G1 matches and one non-G1 match a year that's really good, and then the rest of his stuff is in the two-star range. Someone show me the best match ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I'm going to stop trying to predict what Gedo is going to do. I have a sneaky suspicion that Tanahashi is going to beat Okada, and drop the belt to Naito, then Okada wins the G1. This Tanahashi/Okada story has come full circle, when Okada challenged Tanahashi the first time, Tanahashi was dismissiv...

Re: WWE WrestleMania 34 - April 8, 2018

1) Being poised to dislike a main event vs. Purposely trying to hijack the proceedings and bring the match down/ruin the match for those that disagree with you are two different things. It's also telling that the people who disliked the match stayed. It was easy enough to get up and leave and show ...

Re: WWE NXT 2018 (A-show schedule in OP)

When you consider where NXT was in 2017 around Mania and where it is today, you have to give immense credit to the rebuilding job they did over the last year. From Dallas to Orlando, only one wrestler on the former show remained on the roster post Mania week. The show was definitely on a downturn, ...

Re: WWE NXT 2018 (A-show schedule in OP)

One HELL of a show. NA Title Ladder Match - A really incredible ladder match - perhaps my all time favorite one. This felt like they really thought about how to do it with 2018 psychology and made it work. They sold the hell out of their progressive damage, and altogether just sold the brutality of ...

Re: WWE WrestleMania 34 - April 8, 2018

Pretty meh on Wrestlemania. Enjoyed Charlotte/Asuka and actually thought the Rousey tag was my favorite match on the show, much to my surprise. Lesnar/Reigns really didn't do it for me. Not bad, just blah. WWE often gives itself uphill battles to begin with because usually the story and players are ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Is it possible that they're going to really load up Dontaku to make a possible Tanahashi/Okada match a bigger deal event? Or are their venues still more minor.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

One of the reasons I didn't think Zack was making it past Ibushi was because I didn't think they'd have him pin Naito AND Ibushi in singles. He's really (finally) getting a proper push from NJPW instead of dicking around in tags. Super excited, and the match with Ibushi was insane.

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Wow, am I going to have to eat my hat on the strong stance against Ishii having a shot? My main question is whether Taichi or Fale takes out Tana. Also, watch Yano beat SANADA and fuck me on this. Ishii over Elgin Juice over Yujiro Taichi over Tanahashi Fale over Archer Ibushi over Yoshi Sabre over ...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

For sure, that's why I didn't count Juice out in the first cut. I agree that he has a chance, but I think it's a <1% deal. Hell, I'd be into it, and they could make it work for the crowd, I Just don't think they'd be confident that it'd draw to what they expect - and they'd be right, I imagine. EDIT...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

I like your way of cutting out the non-options and ranking from there but there is one distinction that I would flip. That would be Elgin and Juice. Juice has a proven track record of meeting the challenge when it comes of drawing. He sold out a small building headlining with Naito before Dontaku l...

Re: Strong Style Spirit - New Japan catch all thread

Tanahashi has to get one of the next two title shots. So he could win the cup, beating a SZG guy each round, and challenge Okada for his record-tying 10th defense. I much prefer Tanahashi challenging at Dominion as Okada tried to break the record. And the Cup is made for upsets. Tana/Taichi screams...
