Re: 2016 WON HOF Ballot & Discussion

We should note that since Ivan Koloff fell off the ballot and both Sting and AJ Styles (who fell off anyway) main evented a PPV, there is no one on the "Modern North America" list that isn't indelibly linked to working for Vincent K McMahon. You're choosing based on how well someone appealed to him ...

Re: VOW Flagship: Super Indies, Destruction, Cruiserweight Classic & more!

What's the difference between a Super Indie and NEW, other than NEW pulling 3000 seat buildings every show? Finally got around to listening to the entire show and was compelled to ask: With the flagship going 0 for 2 on calling for "Big First Top Title Wins" with Becky & KO, irrespective of whether ...

Re: 2015 Match of the Year - Official Discussion

Two questions:

What is the lowest placement (numerically) of a match that received a 1st place vote?

What is the highest placement (numerically) of a match that received a 10th place vote?

Re: F4W/Observer-Is it still worth paying for?

Sources being worked actually makes Dave look worse here, IMO. "Triple sourcing" a story like this, and using three sources who got their info from Del Rio is inexcusable and unprofessional. If he couldn't get it from someone at least tertiarily related to the company, he shouldn't have reported a ...

Re: VOW Flagship (October 29): Call for Questions!

In the Q3 call, GB established a mindset for WWE that "where ever the eyeballs go, the money eventually follows".

Do you think this is a valid mindset for WWE? Are all eyeballs created equal? Is every medium an equal chance for profit?

Re: F4W/Observer-Is it still worth paying for?

Did any of these numerous free sources of wrestling reporting scoop Dave on Randy Orton's shoulder injury, or is that too fresh for someone to claim to have known two weeks ago?

Re: Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame (2015)

Considering that we already have been told that Sting had a major bump on the ballots for doing half-a-dozen appearances for WWE and seeing Styles's return to the ballot after leaving TNA, we can infur that Jeff will never sniff the HOF as long as voters punish wrestlers for accepting Dixie's money.

Re: Worst Match of the Year

That one match Mr. Niebla worked drunk probably deserves a mention. http://i.imgur.com/UwrnRar.gif http://i.imgur.com/EuFxYks.gif August 3rd, 2015 I wouldn't call it an absolutely horrific match except that it works as a platonic ideal of everything wrong with CMLL, including: Atlantis's disturbing...

twitter SCOOPZ https://twitter.com/davemeltzerWON/status/654727380464898048 "Issue won't be out for a few weeks, but 7 new Hall of Famers in 2015. Most newcomers since 2004." Re: F4W/Observer-Is it still worth paying for?

According to Dave the only thing that moves the needle w/r/t WON is WWE news and UFC news. Putting both of those two into that echelon tells you why Dave covers both as well as he does.

Re: Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame (2015)

I see Punk as a Perrito-level candidate. 4 solid years as a #2 level draw after a credible resume, and then a precipitous drop in output from issues of health & promotional politics. Influencial on the presentation of wrestlers to the fans but among a larger crowd of guys on a work/angle level. Obvi...

Re: 2015 Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame - Panel Discussion

I find odd to credit CM Punk with being a beginning of the indie scene revolution of short guys when the guy is at minimum six foot (and credited as 6'2"), the indie scene around him shrank precipitously after he left it, and UFC's boom period has unquestionably taken most of the giants that Vince l...
