Watch: Wrestle Universe

It is the final night of B Block matches before the finals take place on June 16th in Korakuen Hall. The B Block has 3 teams tied with 6 points each. Passion Max needs to beat Team 2000X and then need Kenoh & Marufuji to beat Inamura & Rogers, in order to win the block because Inamura and Rogers have a win over Passion Max but Passion Max have a win over Kenoh & Marufuji. I hope that made sense.

Tetsuya Endo def. Hiroto Tsuruya

This match was just over 6 minutes long and was a simple, straight forward wrestling match, which is a strong suit of Tsuruya. Endo wrapped up the rookie like a pretzel to get the submission win, and I look forward to a rematch down the line. While I was watching this match, I began to wonder where Tsuruya would go on excursion. Selfishly my vote would be for a non-NXT related, US excursion. I would love to see him bouncing around US indies like New Texas Pro, West Coast Pro, Pandemonium Pro, all the “Pros.” Nice & Short

Eita & Yuto Koyanagi def. AMAKUSA & Black Menso-re

Koyanagi & Menso-re started this one, with the fired-up rookie charging Menso-re at the bell, knocking him down with a shoulder tackle. Koyanagi then charged AMAKUSA and knocked him to the floor. I love Yuto Koyanagi and I don’t care who knows it! Yuto’s partner Eita, ended up getting the victory for their team, pinning Menso-re after a superkick in under 5 minutes in a fun match. Eita’s momentum continues as his 15th anniversary show rapidly approaches, where he will be challenging Dragon Bane for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Title in Eita’s hometown of Nagano. Fun & Short

Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) def. HAYATA & Super Crazy

This was a “house show special,” featuring a lot of “ha-ha,” between Super Crazy & Gallows, as Super Crazy was “afraid” of Big LG. I understand why this match was longer than the two before it, I just wish that it wasn’t. Good Brothers got the win after a “Magic Killer” to Super Crazy. House Show Special

Los Tranquilos de Japon (BUSHI, RYUSEI & Tetsuya Naito) def. Atsushi Kotoge, Daiki Odashima & Midori Takahashi

The match began with Odashima, clearly annoyed by Naito’s pre-match antics, hitting him with a dropkick from behind before the bell. Naito’s pre-match ritual of taking off his ring gear, one layer at a time, at a snail’s pace is more aggravating now that his match performance will be slow and aggravating. There was enough young talent in this match though to salvage it, but Naito did look especially broken down here. Bushi got the submission on Takahashi with a “Boston Crab. Then after the match, Naito had Odashima in a “Boston Crab” of his own, on the floor, and had to be stopped by the referee as they have been clearly building towards a match between the two.  Forgettable

All Rebellion (Alejandro & Kaito Kiyomiya) & Lykos Gym (Kid Lykos & Kid Lykos II) def. Team 2000X (Jun Masaoka, Kai Fujimura, Masa Kitamiya & Takashi Sugiura w/ Yoshi Tatsu)

I recently watched several videos on how culture has seemingly stood still for the last 20 years and nothing is evolving. If they decide to create a sequel in another 20 years because nothing has changed still, this match should be featured in that documentary. Kitamiya pinned Alejandro after a “Saito Suplex.” Fine

NOAH announced that Hi69 will be out of action with a torn calf muscle. As a result, Hajime Ohara will be replacing Hi69 alongside Kotoge in the upcoming GHC Junior Heavyweight Title match against the champions, Dragon Bane & Alejandro, on June 16 in Korakuen Hall.

Neo Global Tag League 2026 (Block B Match)
Kazuyuki Fujita & Mohammed Yone [4] def. Katsumi Inahata & KENTA [0]

The first league match of the night was between two teams who had no chance of winning. Kenta & Inahata did have the motivation to avoid leaving this tournament with zero points, but they were unsuccessful in this match, which was just okay. It was a little hard to get wrapped up in with no stakes, but it’s always nice to watch Inahata get fired up. He almost got a small package win on Yone, which got me and those in attendance. Yone got the win after a “Kinniku Buster” to Inahata. Okay

Neo Global Tag League 2026 (Block B Match)
Passionate RATEL’S (Manabu Soya & Yuki Iino) def. Team 2000X (OZAWA & Tadasuke w/ Yoshi Tatsu)

Passion Max needed a win here, to possibly win the block. They got that win but they sure didn’t start this match with the intensity of a team who really wanted it. That’s been a big issue with this entire tag league, the lack of intensity. That is what has made the young guys stand out so much. They are wrestling like they want to win, not like they are trying to get a laugh. The intensity did pick up a bit but got bogged down by a bunch of licking. And yes, you read that correctly. Passion Max got the win after hitting the “Passion IS” to Tadasuke, to a nice little pop from the audience. Mild

Neo Global Tag League 2026 (Block B Match)
Kenoh & Naomichi Marufuji def. Stallion Rogers & Yoshiki Inamura

The first five minutes of this match bolstered my spirits a bit, most likely due to the lack of opponents licking each other plus Marufuji chopping the crap out of people. All four men wrestled this match like they were in a main event and wanted to win. Passion Max were sitting ringside, rooting for Kenoh & Marufuji I’m sure. And they got their wish as Kenoh & Marufuji got the win after a top rope double stomp from Kenoh to Rogers. This was easily the best match of the night and exactly how a tag league match should be wrestled. Fast paced, hard hitting and with the intensity of teams who care more about winning than entertaining. Passion Max advances to the finals to face the Good Brothers on June 16th. Good Stuff

Final Thoughts

The final night of B Block matches, and all block matches, was a night that just felt off, except for the main event. The wrestlers who have performed well on this tour did not perform as well, and the wrestlers who have performed poorly, seemed even worse. I can’t say that I have high hopes for the finals, but I would very much enjoy being surprised. The Good Brothers & Passion Max have the ability to put on a good match, if they take it seriously.
