Even in the age of streaming media, plenty of shows can only be experienced in person. In past WrestleMania Weeks, I wished that Martinez Entertainment’s lucha libre shows, for example, were available to view live or on delay. Instead, they remained meat-space exclusives, experiences that you could only have live and in person.
This year’s WrestleMania Week will be no different, though I think we’ll feel the impact of the missing shows more strongly than in previous years. This is the second WrestleMania Week since Tony Khan decoupled Ring of Honor from WWE’s signature event of the year. With American independent wrestling still finding its footing in an environment dominated by two 500-lbs. gorillas that have access to rich media contracts, most WrestleMania Week shows have to lean on irony or imported wrestlers to create cards that entice fans to buy tickets or to pay for streams.
So, it was especially painful when three of the shows I had bookmarked (Pandemonium Pro: Whatever, Forever, Marvelous Women’s Pro Wrestling, and West Coast Pro: West Coast vs. The World) will likely be available online only after they occurred.
Three shows (Lucha Memes, Tijuana Wrestling Entertainment & Souris Valley Wrestling: FundMeMania, PrideStyle Pro Wrestling: Out of this World, and PrideStyle Pro Wrestling: Sobre La Luna) might not ever be available. That would be a shame since Mexa Boys (Spider Fly & Noisy Boy) vs. CPF (Joe Lando & Danny Black) and Ryan Clancy vs. Ethan Allen, Taniya vs. Miu Watanabe, and Amira vs. Senka Akatsuki were very intriguing matches. (Lucha Memes’s Twitter account announced that they will offer the show on demand.)
Despite this disappointment, it was still difficult to prioritize shows that competed for the same time slot. For example, Thursday held two difficult choices:
- 11:00 am PDT/2:00 pm EDT: Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling: TJPW LIVE in Las Vegas 2026, New Texas Pro Wrestling: Sin City Stampede, and PROGRESS Wrestling: Chapter 179 – PROGRESS Las Vegas II
- 3:00 pm PDT/6:00 pm EDT: WrestleCon: Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow, CMLL, and St. Louis Anarchy: Let Anarchy Be Anarchy
Friday also held a quandary:
- 3:00 pm PDT/6:00 pm EDT: Stardom: American Dream 2026 in Las Vegas and Game Changer Wrestling: Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XV
In the past, I had tried to hold firm that WrestleMania Week shows could really only be experienced in the moment. Thus, the shows that I didn’t watch as they happened would be lost like tears in the rain.
This year, I’ve had to adjust and plan to watch some shows on demand because I also don’t believe that you can really appreciate a show if you’re watching it on a second or third screen. I have made the assumption that the platforms (IWTV, TrillerTV, and Title Match Network) make the VOD versions available as soon as the shows end.
Streaming Path to Glory
Here is my personal Streaming Path to Glory this year. I plan to watch shows in purple live, and the shows in green on demand. For most of the shows that I’ll watch on demand, I’ll probably just skip to the matches that I had earmarked from their cards. I might adjust the plan as matches gain or lose buzz. For the quandaries:
- I prioritized shows that will spoil poorly for live viewing. The TJPW show won the three-way dance at its time slot because the I expect that the atmosphere will be positive and fun, and I’ve enjoyed watching New Texas Pro shows on VOD in the past. I think has the potential for some great matches, and I wagered that they would stand a delay than the TJPW’s ephemeral atmosphere.
- In the Thursday at 11:00 am timeslot of doom, only two matches in PROGRESS’s card caught my eye. So, I pushed them off to a later viewing.
- In the Thursday at 3:00 pm timeslot of destruction, I chose the WrestleCon: Mark Hitchcock Memorial because it had more matches that capture the spirit of WrestleMania Week. As good as the matches on the CMLL show should be, we’ve mostly seen those combinations before. I haven’t seen CPF face MxFX, Love & Peace, or Masato Tanaka fight Mark Davis before, so the thrill of the new pushes those shows to the front.
- In the Friday at 3:00 pm timeslot of decision, I chose the Stardom show because it should be a more diverse show than the Bloodsport shows. I enjoyed Julius Creed vs. Matt Mako from Bloodsport XI, but Bloodsport shows can be a series of matches that all feel the same.
Finally, you might notice that I opted for Maple Leaf Pro: MULTIVERSE over Game Changer Wrestling: Joey Janela’s Spring Break X. I saw nothing of interest from Spring Break X’s card, so I had no reason to schedule myself to watch it live or on demand.
