This was my second favorite match of All In weekend. And I will be honest, when I entered Globe Life Field that day I was looking forward to this match but I really wasn’t rooting for anyone. But by the end of the match, I was standing on my chair, screaming in support of the Hangman. I really can’t give a match more praise then that. It was a amazing thing to witness and I will never forget it! – Jason Hart (Voices of Wrestling)

What an unforgettable experience this was. Over a half hour of escalating hatred, violence, carnage, chaos, and a catharsis for months of domination from the Death Riders that saw a returning cast of characters get revenge, and a nearly two year blood feud reach a turning point for good.

I always appreciate when a match is exactly as advertised, and just like their prior Texas Death Match at the 2023 Revolution event, Hangman Page and Jon Moxley showcased glorious violence here. It was a battle of attrition, as Moxley sought to keep the iron grip he had around the World Title, and AEW itself, while Hangman fought tooth and nail for his redemption, and his chance to be the man once again. It was a back and forth tussle between two men whose values were iron clad.

It was bloody, violent and excessive – and that’s what it needed to be. The Death Riders’ MO this entire time has been destruction and chaos by any means necessary, so what we saw here wasn’t out of the ordinary for what Moxley brings to the table. Hangman, to his credit, also showed up ready to bleed, and he gave it just as much as he got it. That fork attack to Moxley’s head at the start was sickening, and is a testament to Moxley’s dedication to pro wrestling.

This match had some gnarly spots throughout, the worst arguably being Hangman’s powerbomb to Moxley onto the tops of those chairs. That just looked disgusting, and it felt worse. The violence all culminated with the appearance of the Death Riders, which then led to the appearance of Will Ospreay, Darby Allin, Bryan Danielson, the Young Bucks and Swerve Strickland. Everyone showed up to ensure that justice was served on either side.

There have been comparisons made to the Cody Rhodes/Roman Reigns match from WrestleMania XL in regards to the interference cameos, and I have to disagree. While both matches certainly had their share of outsider appearances, I don’t think it held this match down the way it did the Mania match. There, they felt like shoe horned “moments,” where here, it was just part of the flow of the chaos. Also, I want to point out one particular moment that made a lot of sense to me.

It was when Bryan Danielson appeared, and took out Wheeler Yuta with the Busaiku Knee. It was Yuta, who turned on Danielson at WrestleDream, and led to him getting suffocated again with that plastic bag. So, Danielson taking Yuta out here was a nice touch and a callback to the story from the very beginning.

The finish, with Swerve Strickland handing the chain to Hangman, was poetic. It was a great example of time healing all wounds, and even these two bitter rivals came to a compromise, and fought for the greater good together. Hangman really sold this moment, as he did the importance of the match itself. This was everything to Adam Page, and he was going to keep going until his body failed him. Him choking Moxley out with the chain was also a nice touch, as that’s how he beat him in their prior Texas Death Match.

It’s outstanding pro wrestling nonsense done really well. It’s a violent spot fest, with a lot of story threads tied up, and it ended with Adam Page finding his redemption, and saving the World Title from the Death Riders. You can feel the emotion coming off of him when he finally takes the title out of the briefcase. It’s pure catharsis, and when pro wrestling pulls that off, there’s nothing quite like it. – Daniel Everhart (DanTheWrestlingFan)

I was skeptical if this match would reach the level it needed to based on the story, but boy did it! The story of the match was well worked with the increasing level of violence. Huge moment for the finish as well. – Kevin Skiffington (TIR Wrestling Podcast)

Moxley felt like inevitability — relentless, grimy, and completely uninterested in catharsis. Hangman, meanwhile, wrestled like someone trying to prove to himself that he still belongs at the top of the card, even if it costs him something he can’t get back. That dynamic drove every decision in the match. – Brian Zilem (Pwtorch)

For all of the bollocks that AEW fans had to sit through in late 2024/early 2025, it was all made worth it with the main event of All In Texas. Jon Moxley proving why he is the company ace taking on the man everyone was willing to succeed in the feel good moment of the year. Fist pumping at 2am isn’t something I was expecting to do after a near 8 hour show, but my god this match delivered.

Also shoutout Bryan Danielson, you are the funniest man alive. – Sam Palmer (Wrestling Inc.)

Another AEW plunder match scores high in a end of the year poll. This was an awesome match filled with drama and great action with returns and run ins and craziness not perfect but a great match. – Jason Turner (WhiteTail Wrestling)

The Death Riders storyline would have been an abject failure if it didn’t stick the landing, and in a rare treat, the ending became the absolute best part of it. Tying together multiple stories and an intense affair in and of itself, one of the best-feeling matches of the year. – Will Young (Voices of Wrestling)

Long-term booking paid off in spades here. The depths Page sunk to in his heel turn, contrasting to the shitbaggery of Moxley’s Men’s World Championship reign, meshed into a cathartic title change. The right amount of bloodshed and intrusions for the talents involved and the story involved. – Corey Michaels (Wrestling Observer Network, Last Word on Pro Wrestling, BodySlam)

About as good of a job as you can possibly do in this type of match with lots of bells and whistles and outside involvement. I also think it’s one of the better US stadium matches in terms of the crowd feeling united and invested. A lot of time stadiums can work against a match but this was “big enough” and the two were well-defined enough that it all worked. They had a very tough match to follow from the prior year in terms of emotion and they did it. Mox took all the bullets during his heel run and found the exact right note and opponent to make it worth the ride. – Andrew (cero1max) (Cero1MAX Wrestling)

This year pro-wrestling was painted in blood and Moxley/Hangman brought the macabre to the biggest stage. – Liam Jones (TNA History Pod)

The feel good moment of they year in wrestling. Moxley and Page put on the performance of a lifetime. Although the lead up to the match might have been a bit shaky for some, the actual story of the match is instantly gripping. From the fork to the skull setting the tone of the match, to the well placed and logical run ins from people who had vowed to help Hangman and Mox. It told a story of perseverance, determination, and ultimately, redemption, as Hangman finally choked out Moxley and lifted the long confined AEW World Championship high above his head.

Some people liken this match to the Cody/Roman match at WM40, but this was structured and treated more logically. It wasn’t just a bunch of old timers coming in a beating each other up for no reason, there was purpose to every interference and most importantly no-body touched Moxley other than Page the entire match. The win was totally Hangman’s and there’s no asterisk next to his crowning moment. Hangman had finally done it, on an even playing field, with blood in his eyes and Moxley writhing on the apron with a chain around his neck and a purpling face. – Adam Darwin (Dragonscrew Wrestling)

This is my match of the year because it was one of those matches where it’s like cooking a “perfect meal”, for comparison. If you put too much seasoning or if you overcook by two minutes, the whole meal is either ruined or not as good as it could have been. AEW in 2025 was in its rebuilding phase after a tumultuous two years prior, and that couldn’t be any more correct than with Hangman and Moxley. Outside of some exceptional work, 2023/2024 wasn’t a strong period for either man, to the point where indifference began to settle in rather than deference. However, once the Death Riders storyline turned the ship around in terms of their story and the overall atmosphere in the company, it allowed for a strong babyface that the crowd wanted to rally behind to defeat the dastardly group. Enter Hangman, who refocuses his priorities, wins the Owen, takes out the Death Riders until it came to Arlington, Texas in the main event of All In Texas, where Page and Mox, as they have before, went out and put their entire soul into making this special. I still go back and watch the final moments of this whole ordeal because it had three different pops by the end: Hangman making Mox tap out, Hangman opening the case that had the World title locked up for a year, and Hangman raising the belt high over his head as the pyro went off. To me, this is what pro wrestling is about. Losing yourself in the moment and letting that lasting image speak for itself as the conquering and beloved hero defeats the manipulative villain on the biggest stage possible for AEW. For them, they stuck the landing, and that reason why it is my 2025 match of the year. – Hakeem Johnson (Pro Wrestling Spreadsheet)

Pro wrestling suffers too much from a failure of trying to tell an epic story with lots of moving parts in the same match because it comes off as contrived. This match is the exception. It was the perfect ending for a months long story and the interference by Allin, Swerve and the Opps to counterbalance the Death Riders made sense and felt more organic. It was a real moment and felt like end of a period and the start of something new.

You can argue all day about what happened after, but Moxley here was just phenomenal and set up the rest of his 2025. Page’s reign can be debated another time. It felt like the closure of a story that started rocky but picked itself up halfway there, and I was just with a smile on my face at the end of the day. – Abraham Delgado (Voices of Wrestling)

A brutal match and a culmination of a great story. – Dan Watson (Wrestling with Reviews)

Messy and long and more than a little silly, but the best version of this sort of thing that could probably ever exist, and the closing stretch of the year’s most impressive achievement by Jon Moxley. – Simon HANDWERK (HANDWERK)

Jon Moxley deserves every ounce of credit for creating a brilliant moment to finish the Hangman Page redemption arc. It was beautifully violent, but the finish where Moxley is being choked out and shows his cowardice, couldn’t have been better. – Tyler Forness (Voices of Wrestling)

Given my love of Hangman Page, you’d think I’d have this higher. I didn’t like all the outside horseshit, even if it made sense for the story. The All-Star Team running in felt a little too much like Cody Beats Roman to me. Can’t argue with the happy ending that everyone wanted on the promotion’s biggest show of the year. It had to be Hangman, as Ospreay said. The main character who I have loved since first noticing him as something special during his (only?) G1 run. – Eric Krol (Pro Wrestling Torch)

This was the culmination of my life’s work. All I ever wanted was to be there live for a Texas Death Match between Hangman Adam Page and Jon Moxley – I literally asked Hangman about Mox in July 2022 at a con panel, before they were even truly in each other’s orbit in AEW. But to have it come with a men’s world championship win for Hangman, to have it come on the cusp of Hangman’s redemption, the truce with Swerve, a cameo from Bryan, a tactical fork in the head calling back to their first Texas Death – and to have Swerve hand Hangman the infamous chain that would bring about Mox’s demise – this match means everything to me. Plus, as a Texan, I probably would’ve rioted if the cowboy lost, so. Good thing he didn’t. I don’t think I will ever feel as much catharsis as I did leaving Globe Life Field that night ever again. It was magical, I don’t care what anyone else thinks. – Emiliana Rico-Toro (Social Suplex Newsletter)

This match was so physical and violent. Mox and Hangman have amazing chemistry and it played out in this match. Buckets of blood were spilled. The crowd went crazy when Moxley tapped out. – Floyd Johnson (All Things Elite on Social Suplex)

A fine example of the very concept of a blow off match. Moxley was the Robotnik to Hangman’s Sonic and this was a prime example of doing all the spots and violence, but making it count. – Corey Clark (Troubles Weekly)

Just about as perfect a blow-off to a months-long storyline as you could get. It took their incredible 2023 Texas Death match, stepped up the viciousness, injected an elevated version of ECW’s dog-and-pony show to ratchet up the drama, and capped off the year’s biggest show with the heroic babyface vanquishing the hated villain. – Ryan Mac (Ryan’s Reviews)

I’m predicated by nature to dislike almost everything about this match, the nearly cartoonish violence, the run ins, the melodrama… and yet, here it is on my list. The over the top violence of this match was executed in such a way as to be believable, even understandable. The overbooking… look, there was a Jeff Jarrett-ian amount of run ins… but I would argue that this was a rare time where the furious overbooking actually made sense.

Here’s the reality; AEW built up actual, legitimate heat leading to this match, possibly TOO MUCH heat, by sacrificing a number of PPV main events. Jon Moxley had held the belt too long, had too many (seemingly by design) mediocre matches at the top of the card, and his minions had run around unchecked for nearly ten months. The All In match was structured with the heroic AEW babyfaces being taken out systematically until Darby Allin and Bryan Danielson (!) were able to finally turn the tide, which was pleasant to see after months of the bad guys running roughshod. The final sequence seeing Swerve Strickland slipping Page a chain, leading into hanging Mox and Mox taking a GNARLY bump into a bed of nails… the scary boogeyman Mox represented was FINALLY taken down and that was really all the crowd was waiting for. The theme of this match was catharsis… and I would argue this was a rare time in modern, Western wrestling where a babyface triumph really meant something special to the crowd it was presented to. – DJ Convoy (La Zona Muerta)

Adam Hangman Page Redemption and Jon Moxley Death Riders stuff worked. I think this was the moment I could believe in AEW again after the year of the dark cloud following them. – Conrad Kushman (Everything Pro Wrestling )

While much of the reign prior to his match was a bane of my existence in some ways, Jon Moxley proved he’s one of the pillars of modern wrestling with his unreal performance in this match. – Andrew Gelinas (Long Story Sport)

We all owe the Death Riders an apology. That is all. – Markeem Graham (The Blue Moon Wrestling Show and One of the Skypetalkers)

There are a lot of things that you can criticize about AEW, but sometimes, they show me again, why I am in love with the sport of pro wrestling. I supported the Death Riders Story for more than the average fan and I’m happy that the payoff was this amazing. Moxley and Hangman are absolutely amazing and this match shows why. – Akash Merten (Five Star Network)

This was AEW’s climactic match of the year that weaved together numerous storyline threads as Page exorcised his personal demons to put an end to Moxley and the Death Riders’ reign of terror. – Jeuron Dove (Jeuron’s World of Wrestling )

A bloody and violent display of wrestling brilliance! Match starts and both men come out swinging. Moxley tries to stab Page with a fork early only for Page to trap Moxley in a triangle choke and stab him with his own fork. Moxley is POURING blood right away! Here we go! Moxley takes back over by going after Page with barbed wire to bust him open as well and starts to punish the Hangman. A barbed wire wrapped chair and broken glass comes into play as Moxley seems to enjoy punishing Page and forcing him to get back to his feet every time. Page is able to fight back by powerbombing Moxley into a pair of open chairs for a brutal spot. Wheeler Yuta tries to get involved but is quickly smacked down by the Hangman. Page looks for the Buckshot Lariat but Marina Shafir jumps on his back and tries to choke him out. Page lifts her up and hits a Death Valley Driver off the apron through a table! Dead Eye by Page into the glass on Moxley! Claudio Castagnoli rushes out to start hammering on Page as Moxley tries to recover. Will Ospreay comes to Page’s rescue but Gabe Kidd is there to stop him! Piledriver on the floor before Claudio stomps a chair wrapped around Ospreay’s neck! Ospreay is done! Moxley comes back with a suplex off the apron through barbed wire tables. Both men are bloody and battered but keep trying to fight! Moxley with a bulldog choke and looks to choke out Page but he still gets to his feet! Death Rider into an open chair! Page STILL won’t stay down! Moxley calls for the Death Riders to hand him a plastic bag to choke the life out of Page! A video plays on the screen… It’s Darby Allin! Someone in a mask rushes the ring and hits Yuta with a Busaiku Knee! It’s Bryan Danielson!!! He dives to take out the Death Riders! Darby literally descends from the roof of the building! Moxley looks like he has seen a ghost! Page comes in with a Buckshot Lariat! Darby Coffin Drops to the outside into the Death Riders as he and Danielson fight them to the back! Another Buckshot and Moxley rolls to the apron. Dead Eye off the apron through a table! Marina helps Moxley to his feet at 9 to break the count. The Young Bucks are in the ring behind Page! Superkicks and an EVP Trigger! Moxley and Marina bring a bed of nails into the ring! Curb Stomp and a Death Rider into the nails! Jesus! Page still gets to his feet! Moxley tells Marina to get the briefcase but as she does, Prince Nana handcuffs her to the barricade! Swerve Strickland knocks out the Bucks with a chain! Swerve hands Page the chain! Page tries to choke out Moxley but Moxley is able to fight it off. Buckshot Lariat by Page and Moxley lands on the bed of nails! Page chokes Moxley with the chain and hangs him over the rope! Moxley is panicking as the life is choked out of him! Moxley taps!!! Adam Page is the AEW World Champion! HOLY FUCK! This match was a perfect storm of violence, blood, callbacks, run-ins and a perfect finish to an 8 month storyline! Perfect Pro Wrestling Violence! – Alex Kalil (Spot Monkey Pro)

This had everything you needed for the main event of your biggest show. A match full of big moments and violence. It felt like non-PG version of Cody vs Roman II. It really ended a chapter and started a new one. Felt like a real climax in every way. – Kaan Ünverdi (Tokyo Merkez Podcast)

I absolutely understand the people that were let down by this. It was exactly what I expected and I thought they pulled it off. It was a big, dumb, stadium main event that played off all sorts of stories going in and at the end gave us the big moment of Hangman raising that title.

As great as that moment was, Jon Moxley taking the first nail board bump in company history is the one that has stuck with me. And I suppose that’s the difference between this company and others. Sure, the main event of the big stadium show is about “moments”, but here half of those moments are going to be the craziest things you’ve ever seen. – Jeremy Sexton (Voices of Wrestling)

Ever since winning the AEW World Title from Bryan Danielson in October 2024, Jon Moxley and the rest of the Death Riders had been terrorizing AEW. The big question for months was who was going to be the one to finally dethrone Moxley, and as it would turn out, that person who be “Hangman” Adam Page. The two would meet in a Texas Death Match at All In Texas (which to this day is the biggest AEW show to ever take place on American soil) with the gold on the line, and just like their previous Texas Death Match at Revolution 2023, Hangman would emerge victorious. This was definitely a divisive match in some circles, but for me, pretty much everything in this match worked. You got the level of violence and brutality that you would expect from these two (the visual of blood squirting out of Moxley’s head after getting stabbed with a fork was sickening in all the right ways), and the various interference spots worked out almost perfectly. In the end, this match hit all the right notes, and gave that crowd twenty thousand plus exactly what they wanted. The reaction to Hangman finally taking the AEW World Title out of the briefcase was incredible, and it capped off what was an absolute rollercoaster ride of a match. Again, you mileage will certainly vary with this one, but it 1000% landed for me, and will definitely sit in my memory as one of the big highlights of pro-wrestling in 2025. – Sean Sedor (Voices of Wrestling)

This was amazing chaos… I STILL do not like Mox… but here we are. – Joel Yentis (Strong Style Stories)

I’m sure others have this at #1 but not for me. Overall the match was full of spectacular thing and the win where hangman….hangs him was the goat but for me it just went too overboard for my loving of the match – Kentucky210 (squaredcircle)

Some handwaved this match as too similar to that Cody/Roman Mania main event with all the interference. I can see that, but this was…great. I guess that’s the difference? – Elliot Imes (Super J-Cast)

Catharsis. – Ryan Largent (WrestleWatch)

This felt like AEW’s version of Avengers: Endgame. Overbooking at its finest. It delivered exactly what it needed to. No one expected a technical masterpiece and that wasn’t the point.

Hangman Page proved once again that he’s the main character of AEW. His journey continues to be one of the most emotionally resonant stories the company has told. But alongside Page, the person who deserves just as much, if not more, credit is Jon Moxley. He was outstanding here. Moxley’s performance was on another level and without his reign of terror, Hangman’s redemption arc wouldn’t have hit nearly as hard.

What started as a rocky, even poorly received storyline ended up having a truly exceptional payoff. – Dan Duca (Wrestling, Examiend)

I was blessed to be present live for this match. Being a part of the crowd during this moment will be a life-long memory. – Kristen Ashly (Pro Wrestling Illustrated)

Emotionally this match was everything. It took a long, well built feud between the 2 men and combined it with the story of what has effectively been the two protagonists in AEW (Page and Mox) and weaved it with multiple ongoing stories into a stirring, cahotic and violent climax that delivered. Moxley in particular deserves all the credit for effectively rebuilding the main event scene in AEW thru the death riders angle and his title run and making sure that all his opponents got built up. And finally for making that victory feel like an all time moment. Hangman also *never* misses in these spots. 2 all timers having an all timer. – Arturo Galletti (The P[w]rescription)

There’s sticking the landing, and then there’s moonwalking the second your feet hit the ground. Obviously, the match itself was a perfectly violent example of a Texas Death Match, but this being the culmination of Page’s road to redemption and the restoration of the AEW World Championship made it truly deserving of the main event of AEW’s biggest show of the year. The Death Riders story had its early struggles out of the gate, yet still proved to be a story that was well worth telling. It all had to mean something, and it had to find the perfect hero to bring it all home — and it’s all so fitting that the perfect hero AEW needed was its imperfect cowboy that needed this just as much for himself. – TDE (TDE Wrestling)

The culmination of Hangman Page’s Redemption Arc meets the end of Jon Moxley & The Death Riders’ reign of terror in a violent spectacle that used the Avengers Endgame format of Cody/Roman iI to absolute perfection. This was redemption for Hangman, for Swerve & for the company in a sensational, bloody war unlike anything seen all year. – Sid Pullar III – SP3 (Tru Heel Heat Wrestling / Sports Illustrated / Fightful)

This match was like a good Thanksgiving dinner (substitute Thanksgiving with a similar holiday themed around food if you live outside the USA or Canada). With most Thanksgiving dinners, you know what you’re going to get at the outset. The food traditions are the same every year, and you can predict what’s going to end up on your plate. But when it’s done right, there is absolutely nothing better than a well-done Thanksgiving dinner. You are satisfied for weeks afterward and will be talking about it next year when the holiday rolls around again.

We in the wrestling community knew what we were getting with the conclusion of Hangman Page and Jon Moxley’s feud for the AEW World Championship. We had seen Texas Death between these two in 2023, and we had witnessed Hangman’s arduous road to the title in the months leading up to All In 2025. We knew that the time had arrived for Hangman to regain the title and claim his place in the main event. We knew that Moxley’s reign had run its course and reached its logical end. We knew all of this and were ready for the torch to be passed. But when Moxley finally tapped out, bleeding like a stuck pig and gasping from the chain around his neck, there was no greater feeling of jubilation or satisfaction than what the wrestling community collectively experienced in that moment. These two kept us engaged and excited for 35 minutes of carnage and brutality, on the edge of our seats even though we knew the outcome. Every moment perfectly accentuated the emotional investment we had in seeing Hangman win. We rode the highs and lows of that roller coaster for every second of the match, and were rewarded with seeing Hangman open the briefcase and raise the belt high once more. This match is proof that getting what you want sometimes really is the best thing. -Chris Colgan – George Atsaves/Chris Colgan (Two Guys One Sport)

Best match of Jon Moxley’s title reign was also his last match. Hatred, violence, invested crowd, everything is paid off. This is how you end a title reign, this is how you end grievances, this is how you make pro-wrestling ugly yet beautiful. – Jeri Evagood (Voices of Wrestling)

The Avengers critique is valid, but like the Endgame final battle it was technically flawed, but still a spectacle that hit me in the feels. A great build -Mox in full villain mode was phenomenal, Hangman’s triumphant return (if only temporary) to main character of AEW – Syd Moss (Strawberry letter 123!)

Fitting conclusion to the Moxley title reign and made for an amazing moment at one of AEW’s biggest shows of all time. Was in the building for this match too which made it that much more special – Doug Marsh (Wrestling Marshland)

Feel good moments seemed to be few and far between in 2025, but Hangman winning the belt back and completing his redemption arc was one of them. The first Texas Death between Hangman and Mox holds a special place in my heart, and while I prefer that one overall, this was still quite the rollercoaster. Also how often do you see a guy get lariated onto a bed of nails? That’s just really cool. – Andrew Rich (Voices of Wrestling / Music of the Mat Remix)

The violent, bloody Texas Death Match between Hangman Page and Jon Moxley was incredible to experience live. The crowd was fully behind Hangman from the opening bell, roaring for every wild brawl into the crowd, every weapon shot, and every moment of defiance as both men punished each other with chairs, tables, and whatever else they could get their hands on. The atmosphere only got hotter each time Moxley cut Page off and bloodied him up, with the fans rallying louder and louder behind every Hangman comeback. When Page finally choked Moxley out and forced him to submit, the eruption in the building was deafening, making this feel like a cathartic, career-defining war for Hangman. – Jeremy Donovan (Social Suplex / Keepin’ It Strong Style)
