Saturday Tailgate Brawl (Airing on TNT/HBO Max)
$200,000 Tag Team Match
Big Bill & Bryan Keith vs. Anthony Bowens & Max Caster vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson)
An “Everybody In The Pool” tag match to get the show going. I’m not as annoyed by this Don’t Call Us The Acclaimed story as some, but I can’t say I care about it to any significant degree. Initially, I went with Bowens and Caster to win this match, but the Bang Bang Gang got a surprise win on FTR on the November 8th Collision. Since I think FTR are going to win the titles on this show, keep Austin & Juice hot for a title challenge on TV. Prediction: Bang Bang Gang
Saturday Tailgate Brawl
RPG VICE (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) vs. Boom And Doom (Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall) (w/Big Justice)
Look, if you still have it in you to have TAKES about the Boom guy, God bless you. There’s actually some booking here, as Big Boom AJ teams with the guy he debuted against in QT Marshall against RPG Vice. If I had the pencil, I’d heat Rocky & Trent up and send the Costco Guy on his merry way, but unfortunately, I don’t expect that to happen. Prediction: The Boom Guy & QT Marshall
Saturday Tailgate Brawl
Eddie Kingston & Hook vs. The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)
Kingston & Hook get some work here to keep their partnership at the front of everyone’s mind. There’s been some dismay about Kingston being in this spot with Hook, but easing Kingston back into action is better than putting him in a high-profile spot after the longest injury layoff of his career. Plus, this pairing should make more sense once things higher up the card shake out. Prediction: Eddie Kingston & Hook
Saturday Tailgate Brawl
CMLL World Trios Title Match
El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada, Mistico & Neon) (c) vs. Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada & Konosuke Takeshita)
Well, this is a surprise. Okada being in a Double Jeopardy match against Mascara Dorada for a CMLL Trios Title shot was weird to begin with, but made sense once it was a vehicle for more Okada/Takeshita interplay. Okada, Takeshita, and Mistico on a Tailgate Brawl is odd, but A) I do suppose AEW wants people to watch these things and B) it makes sense to have the Okada/Takeshita stuff on TNT ahead of the Continental Classic kickoff on Wednesday. It’s been one of the most entertaining parts of AEW as a whole over the last few months, and I expect that tension to boil over here ahead of the ultimate payoff next month at Worlds End. Sky Team retain. Let’s hope someone gave Mistico the iggy that his song isn’t that big outside of Mexico. Prediction: El Sky Team
PAC vs. Darby Allin
PAC promised a straight-up match here, no cattle prods or fire, to prove that he’s better than Darby. This match is interesting because it can go both ways. Darby can get revenge for the Coffin Match and the whole GORILLA PRESS THROUGH TWO FLAMING TABLES and rid himself of the Death Riders for good, or PAC can get a win to establish himself as the true top player of the Death Riders after Moxley’s continued losing in the backend of 2025. PAC’s elevation feels more pressing at the moment, so I’ll say he gets the win. Prediction: PAC
No Holds Barred
Kyle O’Reilly vs. Jon Moxley
In the span of a month, Kyle O’Reilly has gone from a goober in the Conglomeration to one of the hottest acts in the promotion, all off the back of the Jon Moxley TV feud that’s culminating on this show. I’m not sure where you can take this surge of momentum, given how most of the titles are either on babyfaces or are accounted for, unless he leads the Conglomeration to the Trios Titles. But it’ll be something to watch going forward. O’Reilly should win here, as a Mox win doesn’t make sense for anybody right now. Moxley’s days in the Death Riders are numbered, as it’s a matter of when the rest of them get fed up with his failure, not if. O’Reilly taps out Mox again as the end grows closer for Mox. Prediction: Kyle O’Reilly
Million Dollar Match
Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Kenny Omega & Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus)
The money matches that AEW has done this year culminate here, with the first-ever Million Dollar Match as the Young Bucks team with Josh Alexander to take on Kenny Omega & the Jurassic Express. The endgame here is clearly an Elite reunion, which was almost certainly going to involve Kota Ibushi and will probably see Hangman circle back in as well. I wrote about this at some point over the past month, but while an Elite reunion isn’t breaking new ground, it’ll serve a purpose in getting some more out of Kenny Omega without putting him in traction for weeks at a time the way singles matches seem to do.
I wish Josh Alexander got a little more shine over the past few weeks after the Ibushi leg break. I’d have found some time on each show for him to break a jobber’s leg with the ankle lock. I’d have at least had him wear the old I Broke Ibushi’s Leg t-shirt, that’s a lay-up. The winner doesn’t really matter, but I’d just put the Jurassic Express over again since they feel strong right now. Prediction: Omega & Jurassic Express
Winner Picks Stipulation for Their Tournament Semifinal
Marina Shafir & Megan Bayne vs. Sisters Of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue) vs. Timeless Love Bombs (Mina Shirakawa & Toni Storm) vs. Babes Of Wrath (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale)
These are the four semi-finalists in the Women’s Tag Title Tournament. The Sisters of Sin take on the Babes of Wrath on one side of the bracket, while the Timeless Love Bombs take on M’s Alliance on the other side. Given how all eight of these women were in Blood & Guts, I’d expect a plunder match either way. Give me Toni & Mina to win, and an easy out for Megan & Marina losing their semifinal. Prediction: Timeless Love Bombs
Casino Gauntlet Match to crown inaugural AEW National Champion
Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin start; Ricochet, Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight named as participants
We have a Casino Gauntlet for a new, completely unnecessary title: the AEW National Championship. There was some back-and-forth with the NWA about their National Title, given how AEW tried to link the NWA’s lineage to their title. But since I don’t think this title needs to exist, I don’t care about the NWA whining about their version of this belt that probably doesn’t need to exist either. I recently wrote about midcard championships and how the logic behind them is broken, and this belt is no different. No one on the upper level of the card has said a word about this thing, immediately slotting it as a belt that some wrestlers are just above.
Now, this belt does have a gimmick of sorts, taking the International Title gimmick of being defended in AEW’s partner promotions across the world. The first defense is signed for ROH Final Battle on December 5th. With that in mind, and assuming AEW sticks to the gimmick, you have to take that into account when looking for the inaugural champion. Mistico is working the Tailgate Brawl, so you could give him a belt to parade around a sold-out Arena Mexico every Friday. Ricochet has been around the block and has done some solid work as of late.
I would make a strong statement with this match and belt up Kevin Knight. He’s fresh, he’s talented, he can cut a solid promo, and this belt can give him a real spotlight as a traveling AEW star. This belt is going to settle at a certain level, so this might be the only real shot they have to make somebody with this title. I can’t think of anybody better to elevate than The Jet. Prediction: Kevin Knight
No Disqualification Match for TNT Title; If Briscoe Loses, He Must Join The Callis Family
Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Mark Briscoe
The TNT Title is on the line here as Kyle Fletcher once again defends against Mark Briscoe. This feud has been a throughline for Fletcher throughout the first year of his major push, even more so than the more high-profile Will Ospreay feud. It went from a great pair of TV matches in and after the 2024 Continental Classic, to a pair of excellent PPV matches at Dynasty (in the first round of the Owen Cup) and WrestleDream. And on the precipice of the 2025 C2, they will most likely blow this feud off here. I would’ve just had Briscoe win the title last month off the MJF win, but AEW wanted to set up bigger stakes here.
This feels like a spot for a big Briscoe win, but there is the possible hanging chad of who attacked Mark Briscoe at Blood & Guts. Fletcher claims that it wasn’t anybody in the Callis Family, despite Callis wanting the Death Riders to take Briscoe out inside the cage. Fletcher could easily be lying, but could this be a swerve? Roderick Strong has never exactly embraced The Conglomeration the way Kyle O’Reilly did. Could he turn his back on the group? Does Callis have a secret weapon that he’s waiting to reveal on this show? Could this aspect not matter, and Briscoe just win the title?
It’s probably that last one. Prediction: Mark Briscoe
AEW World Tag Team Title Match
Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) (c) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/Stokely)
The tag team titles are on the line as Brodido defends against FTR. These two had a very good time-limit draw on TV before Forbidden Door, and Brodido pinned FTR to win the titles at Forbidden Door. This match has gone under the radar in the build, but I have no doubt these two teams have a phenomenal match in them. Bandido is in strong conversation for Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2025, with stellar matches as tag champion and ROH World Champion. Meanwhile, FTR has been one of my favorite acts in wrestling since their heel turn in April, and the ease with which these guys get heat will create a great dichotomy with Brodido on this night. Brody is fantastic, too. I just had more to say about the other guys.
The finish doesn’t feel in doubt to me, as FTR not only has a hanging thread with the Bang Bang Gang, but they also unfortunately have the Cope & Christian deal to blow off as well. Brody & Bandido have done great work as champions, but those two don’t need to be a permanent team. They can work as singles and come back together whenever they need something to do, as that style of team has often worked in AEW history (Hangman Page & Kenny Omega being the strongest example). It’s time to pay off FTR’s excellent work this year and give them a run with the titles. Prediction: FTR
AEW Women’s World Title Match
Kris Statlander (c) vs. Mercedes Mone
Suit: Mercedes Mone takes her second swing at the Women’s World Title, as she challenges Kris Statlander on Full Gear. These two had an excellent pair of PPV matches last year for the TBS Title, with Mone winning both on her way to breaking the record for longest reigning TBS Champion in company history. The story going into this third match is Mone’s focus, as Statlander believes that Mone’s constant chasing of other titles has kept her from focusing on the big belt. Mone has been working a ton lately, unifying the ROH Women’s TV Title and defending the CMLL Women’s Title on TV while also going for the Women’s Tag Titles and being in Blood & Guts against Statlander.
I love the story of Mone being unable to win the big belt while she’s draped in all of this other gold, as it makes the World Title feel like the biggest prize in the world. It gives Mone a long chase and a real character arc, even with all these different titles in her (and other people’s) hands. Statlander is getting the big push right now, and beating Mone would notch another remarkable win in her resume. Statlander retains. Prediction: Kris Statlander
Steel Cage Match for AEW World Title
Hangman Page (c) vs. Samoa Joe
Suit: Hangman Page & Samoa Joe look to finish things here inside the steel cage for the Men’s World Title. This feud has had a fairly simple structure, as Hangman’s allies turned on him after he won the title, forcing him to go through them all and blow things off inside a cage. Hangman’s beaten both Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata, and is going into the cage to neutralize any possible interference (as if that matters in 2025 pro wrestling). In hindsight, I would’ve swapped the Shibata and Hobbs television matches to go into this show with the hotter angle.
I’ve seen some people consider a Joe win given the lack of a heavy heat angle going into the PPV. Ultimately, this just feels like a top guy feud. Hangman’s friends stab him in the back before he gets his revenge and moves on. As great as Samoa Joe has been, I don’t see what a Samoa Joe title reign accomplishes going into 2026. Hangman’s the top guy, just have him win.
I do think there’s been some foreshadowing of Hangman’s next direction in the build to this match. Hangman has repeatedly brought up the last time he was in a cage, the All Out 2024 Lights Out match against Swerve Strickland. That night, he brained Swerve with a chair and left him for dead in the middle of the ring. Swerve has been out since Forbidden Door, rehabbing a nagging knee injury. Could this show mark the start of the next chapter of Swerve vs. Hangman, this time for the World Title? Prediction: Hangman Page
