BK Westbrook def. Andrew Everett, Bojack, and Morgan Dash

After teaming at Victory Lap, Bojack and Morgan Dash are part of another show opening multiman match. Turns out throwing Morgan Dash around has not lost its luster for Bojack, sending Dash flying within the first five seconds of the match. Once again, Dash was the standout in this one. He’s small, but his offense is so crisp and none of it relies on him overpowering his opponents. The structure of these multiman matches suit Bojack and he was good again here. Westbrook wins with a Shooting Star Press. I like Everett and I think Westbrook has potential, but I need some more direction for them. They’ve been affable faces for a while and since the Trevor Lee tag at You Already Know they’ve felt lost at sea. ***¼

Jake Something def. Kody Lane

Kody Lane makes his DPW debut against former DPW champion Jake Something. This was a match to showcase Jake Something, but Kody Lane impressed me with some unique offense and he got more than I thought he would. I would love to see him back against someone who isn’t booked for a World Title change two days later. Something wins with Into the Void, but an awkward landing on his lower leg is bound to give Adam Priest a target at Beast Coast. ***¼

Battle Of The Best 2025 First Round Match
Dani Luna def. Lena Kross

Fresh off losing her title to Nicole Matthews, Dani Luna looks to repeat as winner of the Battle of the Best. Lena Kross, the only Kross I want to see in DPW, is making her debut. This match looked different than Luna’s other matches in DPW with Kross controlling most of the match and Luna working from underneath. Kross’s offense was good with some of it bordering on great, but the things in between the spots like the yelling and the faces after kickouts were a little over the top for my taste. Luna gets back on track with the Luna Landing. This tournament is stacked and will be continue to be a highlight on these shows. ***½

Erick Stevens & Violence Is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) def. Calvin Tankman, LaBron Kozone & Manny Lo

After nearly three years away, Erick Stevens makes his return to wrestling. He and Violence is Forever face off against a bit of a thrown together team. As soon as the match graphic went up, you knew Manny Lo was going to take the pin, but he was very good in this match and it was perfect for his character. He talked shit, got killed, tagged back in when his teammates gained an advantage, then got killed again. On the other team, Garrini was a man on a mission. This was the best I’ve seen him in a while. Ku took a nasty bump off a Doomsday Device, but apparently he’s okay. VIF and Stevens win with Chasing the Dragon. ***½

DPW Women’s World Title Match
Nicole Matthews (c) def. Trish Adora

This was a completely different match than Luna and Kross match from earlier. That match was two wrestlers throwing bombs and this was a more elegant affair. Adora and Matthews started off the match with a lot of grappling, and everything was fairly cordial until Adora started getting the best of Matthews. Nicole moved things to the feet and when Adora started to match her there, she resorted to using her title belt. Matthews picks up the win. ***½

DPW Tag Team Title Match
Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) (c) def. MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden)

For the first time since the 2024 Tag Festival, MxM enter the orange and black ring and look to end Miracle Generation’s title reign on their first defense. Miracle Generation have impressed me this year, but MxM were what made this match work. After the Miracle Generation and VIF match at Tag Festival felt a little heatless, I was worried we were in for more of the same with MxM who have always been faces in DPW, but MxM were up to the task and they were very good working heel in this match. Miracle Generation, mostly Waller, did some good work on Madden’s leg which paid off for the finish. I do have some nitpicks, like Miracle Generation continuing in GYV’s tradition of shouting a catchphrase in unison before a double team move, but this was an enjoyable first defense. *** ½

DPW Worlds Title Match
Adam Priest (c) def. Anthony Henry

This is something I often find myself saying after watching an Adam Priest match, but this was refreshing. In a year where world title matches in America grow more reliant on gimmicks and overbooking, this was no bullshit. Well, apart from the Adam Priest bullshit, but you get what I mean. Two guys having a physical match for a world championship. Henry was game for most of Priest’s tricks, but after a lapse of judgment, Henry attempted to Irish whip Priest into an exposed turnbuckle and ended up taking it himself. Usually Priest sets up the single leg crab by working the leg, but Henry gave him an opportunity to target the back and Priest made the most of it. Priest wins and is set for a showdown with a possibly injured Jake Something. ****

Final Thoughts

Showdown in Cary is DPW’s best show since Title Fight in Texas. Not a bad match on the card with an excellent main event that reminded me why I believe in DPW.
