For the third consecutive year (2022 and 2023), Voices of Wrestling writers cast ballots for their favorite matches from WrestleMania weekend.

To be eligible, a match or show must have occurred at a show in or near the city where WrestleMania is held from the preceding Monday through the Monday following WrestleMania. Matches from SmackDown or RAW are eligible, but matches from AEW or Impact’s TV shows, New Japan Sakura Genesis, or CMLL’s various shows in Mexico.

Voters voted for their top three shows of the weekend, which received points on a 5-3-1 basis, and their top ten matches of the weekend, which received points on a 14-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

Nine voters submitted ballots. One of this year’s voters decided not to vote for the best show of the weekend, while one voter only voted for the top two matches. This is the first year we voted for the best show of the weekend.

Show of the Weekend: The Best Show of WrestleMania Weekend 2024

  • GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport X – 2 points
  • TJPW Live in Philly – 3 points

  • REVOLVER x HOG – 5 points (1 first-place vote)

3rd place show (tied)

WrestleMania Sunday
6 points
Highest vote: 1st place
Appeared on 2 of 8 ballots

“Easily the better night of Mania, Sunday’s show featured several very good matches and an important storyline conclusion with Cody Rhodes’ title victory. Though it was dragged down by the typical excesses of modern WWE pay-per-views, liberal use of the fast forward button during non-match segments solved most of those issues.” – Fred Morlan

3rd place show (tied)

Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor
6 points
Highest vote: 2nd place
Appeared on 4 of 8 ballots

“I attended this show in-person at the Liacouras Center. I had to put this show in my top three given that it had my top two matches of the weekend. The rest of the card had some other really good matches, but there were a numbers matches that went longer than they needed to, which in turn made the show as a whole entirely too long. This event also had one of the worst matches of the weekend by far, but again, the two matches that opened and closed the show more than compensated for that one horrible match, in my view.” – Sean Sedor

ACTION DEAN~!!!

Highest vote: 1st place (4 times)

“DEAN~!!! was the best show of the weekend in terms of quality provided per pound. ACTION Wrestling paired with Segunda Caida from the DVDVR forums to honor Dean Rasmussen, the influential founder of the DVDVR forums who passed away in 2023. With a great mix of styles and matches featuring workers who were otherwise overlooked for Mania weekend, DEAN~!!! delivered a diverse and highly entertaining card that did a fantastic job of honoring an influential writer.“ – Fred Morlan

“This was easily the highlight of WrestleCon’s annual Mania Weekend card. Two tough dudes just going at it. Tanaka getting busted opened towards the end of the bout only made the match more exciting (accidental blood tends to have that impact on a match). Well worth seeking out if you haven’t seen this event.” – Sean Sedor

“The 2024 edition of Supercard Of Honor kicked off with a bang, as Kyle Fletcher and Lee Johnson put on (what I felt) was the best match of the weekend. An action-packed bout from start to finish that featured plenty of memorable moments. Fletcher continues to show why many believe he’s well on his way to being one of the best in the world, while Johnson had easily the best match of his entire career.” – Sean Sedor

“While you can certainly debate the rushed nature of how the match came together, there’s no denying that when it came time for the main event of Supercard Of Honor, Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe delivered. An awesome match that saw both men beat the crap out of each other for well over twenty minutes. Mark’s victory ended the night on the emotional high, as he captured the ROH World Title exactly eleven years (to the day) after Jay’s first ROH World Title win. The fact that he came out to Gimme Back My Bullets by Lynyrd Skynyrd (The Briscoe’s old ROH theme) just added so much to the atmosphere as well. An incredible match and an incredible moment for sure.” – Sean Sedor
