NXT NORTH AMERICAN TITLE TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
OBA FEMI (C) VS. DIJAK VS. JOSH BRIGGS

Oba Femi has been a dominant North American Champion after beating Dragon Lee for the title in January. He takes on two big men here in Dijak and Briggs, who both have gotten in Femi’s face for a title shot in recent weeks. After both men scored wins on NXT TV, Femi declared both worthy of a shot and decided to face them both at Stand & Deliver. This isn’t a particularly hot match, and none of these guys are babyfaces, but I expect them to do the energetic big-man battle to hype the crowd. Femi is green, but he’s got potential, so I say he retains. Prediction: Oba Femi

NXT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
BARON CORBIN & BRON BREAKKER (C) VS. NATHAN FRAZER & AXIOM

Corbin & Breakker are a wacky odd couple team that won the Dusty Classic and the Tag Team Titles. Frazer & Axiom won a tag team tournament to get this title shot. Frazer & Axiom are a highlight of the weekly shows, and with Breakker already having been tentatively called up to Smackdown, I think they win the titles here in a nice little showcase for them. Prediction: Frazer & Axiom

SIX-WOMAN TAG TEAM MATCH
THEA HAIL, FALLON HENLEY, & KELANI JORDAN VS. JACY JAYNE, KIANA JAMES, & IZZI DAME

NXT is Saved By The Bell with wrestling. There’s no better proof of this than with the long-running story between Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne. Thea Hail befriended Jayne, wanting to be a “grown-ass woman” like her. Cue the makeover montage!

Jayne entered the Chase U-niverse a few months back, and helped them to get out of the gambling debts that Andre Chase accrued by selling calendars of the Ladies of Chase U. Why did Jayne do this? I don’t know!

After her attitude change caused her to have a bad date with fellow Chase U student Riley Osborne, Thea felt bad about her attitude change and decided to be herself again.

Look at this fucking garbage. Goddamn it, I hate this fucking show. Prediction: Thea Hail, Fallon Henley, & Kelani Jordan

NXT WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH
LYRA VALKYRIA (C) VS. ROXANNE PEREZ

Lyra Valkyria…exists. She beat Becky Lynch for the title in October and has done the fighting champion gimmick. Valkyria is as bland as it gets, with her time lately taken up by her stalker Tatum Paxley. Paxley is doing the Mickie James/Mariah May/Single White Female deal of being obsessed with Valkyria because she saved her from a beatdown one time.

Meanwhile, Roxanne Perez has been pushed over the edge more often than prime Ken Shamrock. This time, she’s frustrated that her one-on-one title match back at Vengeance Day became a triple threat with Lola Vice cashing in her Breakout Contract. After Valkyria gave Shotzi a title shot, and after Lash Legend took an open challenge when Shotzi got hurt during the match, Perez got angry again. This time, Perez actually turned heel and hurt Valkyria’s arm. Now, Perez is this world-weary, wisened 22-year-old who knows that nice guys finish last. She’s one Reddit session away from becoming an incel.

Angry Roxanne makes me laugh, while I struggle to remember Valkyria’s name when it’s not in front of me. I’ll bet on this being the Stupid Turn of the night and say that Tatum turns on Valkyria and costs her the title. Prediction: Roxanne Perez

NXT TITLE MATCH
ILJA DRAGUNOV (C) VS. TONY D’ANGELO

There’s nothing to say about this match. D’Angelo beat Carmelo Hayes to win this title shot with the help of Trick Williams. The next week, D’Angelo KIDNAPPED THE WORLD CHAMPION before releasing him on a bridge AN HOUR LATER. They didn’t even sell the kidnapping of the World Champion. Otherwise, uhh…Ilja hurt his hand?

This is easily the coldest NXT Title match for a Takeover-level event that I can remember, as this match feels more like an NXT TV main event than the WrestleMania Weekend showcase match. Ilja doesn’t need to be here, but I think the next NXT Champion is in the next match, so Ilja will keep the title for the time being. Prediction: Ilja Dragunov

CARMELO HAYES VS. TRICK WILLIAMS

The match that NXT 2.0 as a whole has been building towards, and maybe the biggest match NXT has had since the philosophy shift, will see Carmelo Hayes take on Trick Williams. Williams has been at the side of Hayes since the change in developmental, acting as his hypeman for Hayes as he rose to the top of NXT. Before long, Williams began his rise alongside him, as for a short time – about an hour at the No Mercy show – both men held NXT’s singles championships.

But Hayes got jealous once Williams started sniffing around the NXT Championship, and after a mystery attack in October, Hayes fully severed ties back in February at Vengeance Day. Now, Williams is on the cusp of becoming the face of NXT as they head to their new home on the CW later this year. As down as I’ve been on the rest of this show, I’m high on Williams’ upside. He’s got a great look and the mic skills to get a WWE crowd behind him. The last step is the work. He’s had a good pair of matches with Ilja Dragunov, but Ilja Dragunov could have a good match with me. We may have the same last name, but I’m far from Trick Williams. If Williams can become a passable worker on a regular basis, he is going to be a marquee star for this company.

That rise starts here, with a major win in a major feud on the biggest weekend of the year. Williams will Whoop That Trick and beat Hayes before eventually climbing the mountain and winning the NXT Title. Prediction: Trick Williams
