JUN KASAI PRODUCE TOKYO DEATH MATCH CARNIVAL 2022 VOL. 2
AUGUST 29, 2022
KORAKUEN HALL

REKKA & TATSUHITO TAKAIWA DEF. BRAHMAN KEI & BRAHMAN SHU (6:51)
This was the same procedure as always. Brahman’s with some little funny stuff, but when you’ve got some Tatsuhito Takaiwa on the other side, you can expect some fresher things going on. Takaiwa nearly showed his death valley driver but was stopped when one Brahman threw some flour to dragon’s face. After some awkward scenery, Takaiwa hits his DVD for the three. **
GENTARO & KAMUI DEF. LEO ISAKA & TAKAHIRO KATTORI (14:02)
A more technical affair took place in the upcoming match. Leo Isaka is continuing to impress me with his FREEDOMS run and it’s quite smart to put him in matches with decent veterans like GENTARO and Kamui. The team with Kattori is pretty interesting as two young guys trying to impress the FREEDOMS veterans monthly. However, it wasn’t meant to be, Kamui puts Kattori to sleep with the vertebreaker aka Iomante. **1/2
HARDCORE MATCH
DRAGON LIBRE, JUN MASAOKA & TAKASHI SASAKI DEF. DOBUNEZUMI FUKKI, MATARO AOKI & YUSAKU ITO (11:41)
A very diverse match constellation with wrestlers of Dove Pro Wrestling, FREEDOMS and freelancers. The evil-looking Mataro Aoki and E.R.E.’s Dobunezumi Fukki teamed up with freelancer Yusaku Ito (who mainly wrestles for Dove and HEAT UP) against the FREEDOMS team of Dragon Libre, Takashi Sasaki and freelancer Jun Masaoka. The match was a pretty mediocre hardcore six man tag team match with nothing special happening. Masaoka pinned Aoki and hell erupted. **1/2
Dragon Libre attacked his teammate when Leo Isaka, Rekka and Kattori came into the ring and Sasaki had seen enough. The company boss announced the creation of the King of FREEDOM Junior Heavyweight title! With the vacancy of the UWA Junior title, it’s an interesting decision to finally create a junior title for FREEDOMS.
WEAPON BRINGING DEATHMATCH
UNCHAIN (JUN KASAI & RINA YAMASHITA) DEF. MASASHI TAKEDA & MINORU FUJITA (12:52)
Masashi Takeda is back since July and turned on his E.R.E. Teammates in Shin-Kiba. Since then he teamed with his former best friend Jun Kasai and today he was with former UNCHAIN mate Minoru Fujita against the other UNCHAIN members Jun Kasai and GCW Ultraviolent champion Rina Yamashita! I loved the beginning of the match when the former duo of Fujita and Yamashita had their exchanges with some nice callbacks to the last months and years.
Although the middle portion of the match wasn’t a spectacle, I pretty much enjoyed the beginning and the end of the match. Nice to see Rina getting a win over her former tag partner. The aftermath was interesting when all three combatants attacked Yamashita one after another. Maybe it’s a foreshadowing of the upcoming GCW shows? ***1/4
KING OF FREEDOM TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
FLUORESCENT LIGHT TUBES HUMAN MEAT SLICER BOARD DEATHMATCH
SOUL MEAT (TOMOYA HIRATA & TORU SUGIURA) © DEF. E.R.E (TOSHIYUKI SAKUDA & VIOLENTO JACK) (21:05)
E.R.E. tried to get back the tag straps after losing them last December to Soul Meat. Hirata and Sugiura had beaten another E.R.E. Team of Dobunezumi Fukki and Kyu Mogami recently, so the big heel faction were pumped to get the titles back to their suitcase. As expected, when these four gentlemen got together in the ring, it was a brutal but also very creative meeting. The nacho–hot sauce stuff they did was entertaining and fresh, I absolutely loved it. Sugiura’s traditional light tubes elbow spot to Jack was so brutal, Jack’s chest looked like raw meat after that. I have to say Tomoya Hirata is such a great babyface, he improved so much since his first King Of FREEDOM World title match last year. The beginning with him being the bullied opponent, his comeback and his fire was absolutely tremendous stuff. It was so awesome to see that he could beat Violento Jack here after losing to him in his first KFC title challenge last year. ****
KING OF FREEDOM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
FLY HIGH GLASS DEATHMATCH
DREW PARKER DEF. DAISUKE MASAOKA © (19:50)
Can Drew Parker become only the second-ever wrestler to hold the BJW Deathmatch and King Of FREEDOM World title? The only one who did that before was Masashi Takeda. The man who wants not only to defend his belt but defend his promotion from the evil rebels of E.R.E. is Daisuke Masaoka. Masaoka had a good title reign with some bangers, and it felt like a revival for him after being irrelevant for so long.
Jesus christ, what a brutal fight! It started very wrestle-ish, but it took only a couple of minutes until Parker went into some tubes and Masaoka placed some tubes in the face of the Welshman. And like his fellow countrymate Gerwyn Price, he puts some “180’s” into Masaoka’s back with some crackin’ darts. Speaking of darts, Masaoka puts a dart through Parker’s mouth, we all know the inject spots but with a dart is definitely something else. The thing was, they didn’t stop with their violence: Parker flew with a Swanton bomb outside on Masaoka through a glass board while Masaoka nailed his knee drop from a ladder through a table. A spot that was pretty scary was when the champ hits a Spanish fly through a glass board, blood and glass everywhere people. Masaoka wanted to end the match with his moonsault-knee drop combination while Parker had a bundle of tubes on him, but he escaped and immediatly hits a knee strike to Masaoka. Just seconds later Drew hits a styles clash on a bundle of tubes and pinned him after his Swanton bomb onto light tubes. What a finishing sequence, what a match. I absolutely loved this match! ****1/2
FINAL THOUGHTS
Okay, sit down and relax, Chris. While traditionally, the first matches aren’t real bangers on the FREEDOMS shows, the last matches always deliver. The semi-main event and the main event were very good. I recommend watching the match here, and it does not matter if you’re a fan of deathmatches. The “Deathmatch Prince” became a “Deathmatch King!”
