Future of Stardom Championship
Hanan (c) vs. Miyu Amasaki

I’m willing to call this the most significant Future of Stardom Championship match in the title’s history before it even happens. If you’re paying attention, STARDOM has high hopes for both Hanan and Miyu Amasaki when it comes to the future of the promotion. Hanan has had the best Future of Stardom Championship reign to date along with being the winningest champion in history. Amasaki has become the face of the NEW BLOOD shows as she made her in-ring debut in the main event of the very first against Utami Hayashishita and will be main eventing her third (of four) NEW BLOOD event the following week against Tam Nakano.

These two very well could be fighting over the World or Wonder of Stardom Championships in the future, so all eyes should be on this match. It’s also the first time in a bit that Hanan’s reign feels like it is at risk which makes it all the better. No matter who wins this match, it has a chance to be a great Future of Stardom Championship match. The historic reign of Hanan could be coming to an end once and for all. Prediction: Miyu Amasaki

Giulia & Mai Sakurai vs. Ruaka & Rina

Oh Mai Giulia teams up once again to take on two-thirds of Young OED in tag team action. While there isn’t much surprise to who will win here (or intrigue for that matter), this will be interesting for Giulia. After dropping her first two matches of the 5STAR Grand Prix, the Donna del Mondo leader is looking to build up momentum to get to the end and prove to those who saw her as the favorite that this is still her tournament. It’ll be a good opportunity for her to get a victory. Prediction: Giulia & Mai Sakurai

Mayu Iwatani, Saya Iida & Momo Kohgo vs. Utami Hayashishita, AZM & Lady C in a Captain’s Fall Match

Like the match prior, this match is another exhibition. At least this time around it will feature two favorites to win the 5STAR Grand Prix as Mayu Iwatani and Utami Hayashishita lead their factions into battle for a Captain’s Fall match. As all Captain’s Fall matches go, either Iwatani or Hayashishita will have to be eliminated for the other team to win with pinfall, submission, and over-the-top rope all being in play. It should make for a fun match at the very least. Prediction: Utami Hayashishita, AZM & Lady C

Maika & Himeka vs. MIRAI & Ami Sourei

A big powerhouse tag is set to finish off the exhibition tag team matches on the night as former Goddess of Stardom Champions Maika and Himeka take on the rising God’s Eye duo, MIRAI and Ami Sourei. There’s a lot to be interested in as this will not only be the first time these two teams face each other but could be a number one contender’s match for the Goddess of Stardom Championship in the meantime. Maika and Himeka are doing their best to help raise Donna del Mondo back up to its prior glory and part of that will be taking down two-thirds of the most dominant faction in STARDOM right now. These two teams could put together a sneaky good match if they get the time to do so. Prediction: Maika & Himeka

Artist of Stardom Championship
Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid & Saki Kashima (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa, Unagi Sayaka & SAKI

The Artist of Stardom Championship is on the line as the Oedo Tai trio of Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid, and Saki Kashima will defend their titles once again, this time against the Cosmic Angels-COLOR’s force of Mina Shirakawa, Unagi Sayaka, and SAKI. It’s an interesting defense for Oedo Tai as they’ve faced stronger challengers in the past but when it comes to the Cosmic Angels and the Artist of Stardom Championship, anything is possible. What will be the deciding factor in this match will be how Shirakawa and Sayaka work with SAKI. Sayaka has especially shown she’s not as welcoming of COLOR’S or SAKI in particular so if they want to beat the strong Oedo Tai trio, they’ll need to be on the same page from start to finish.

There shouldn’t be too much fear here for Watanabe, Kashima, and Kid as they have the chemistry and momentum to earn a successful title defense. Prediction: Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid & Saki Kashima

Goddess of Stardom Championship
Hazuki & Koguma (c) vs. Tam Nakano & Natsupoi

On paper, there may be no better three-match card than what STARDOM has put together for STARDOM x STARDOM beginning with this match. Hazuki and Koguma have been terrific tag team champions, helping make them feel as important as any tag team titles in all of wrestling. They’ve faced some of the best teams STARDOM has to offer but this looks to be their biggest challenge yet. After FWC successfully defended their belts against MIRAI and Ami Sourei at MidSummer Champions 2022 in Nagoya, Hazuki laid down the challenge to Tam Nakano and Natsupoi. The champions have never been afraid of laying down their own challenges but this could be a situation where they bite off a little more than they can chew.

The good news for them is that no one has been hotter in STARDOM than Hazuki, who defeated Natsupoi in the 5STAR Grand Prix a week ago to get the leg up heading into their title match. There’s zero doubt as to how good this match this will be — it’ll be excellent. But could there be new champions? We may be asking too much thinking Nakano and Natsupoi have been able to get on the same page to the point they can win the Goddess of Stardom Championship this soon but it sure feels as though they have the skill to do so. It’s as 50-50 as any match on this show and very well could be the match of the night. Prediction: Tam Nakano & Natsupoi

Wonder of Stardom Championship
Saya Kamitani (c) vs. KAIRI

I think it’s safe to say that there hasn’t been a match more anticipated than Saya Kamitani vs. KAIRI. The mystery began when Kamitani walked in on a meeting with Rossy Ogawa and a mystery woman, making people wonder who this woman could be. Rumors began to swirl and fans began to hope that maybe, just maybe it would be the return of KAIRI to STARDOM. As we know by now, it was the return of KAIRI and she has shown in her few matches that she’s still just as good as she once was. “The Pirate Princess” has been on a new quest in STARDOM with the Wonder of Stardom Championship being the belt she wants to win for the second time in her career.

KAIRI’s first reign with the championship lasted 364 days before she lost the title to Mayu Iwatani and now that she’s back, KAIRI would love to make an impact one more time as champion. But let’s not dismiss this as a done deal. There are two sides to this and the other side is Saya Kamitani, who may be the best wrestler in the world as of this writing. The Wonder of Stardom Championship has been everything Kamitani has needed to go from really good to great while also being on the cusp of a potential all-timer for STARDOM down the line. “The Golden Phoenix” has evolved into one of the best and is the perfect match for KAIRI when they finally go head-to-head.

It’s Phoenix Splash vs. Insane Elbow. Phoenix vs. Pirate. Rising superstar against a legend. On Aug. 21, wrestling fans are in for a treat. Maybe saying this could be bold but the match between Kamitani and KAIRI has all the makings to be an all-time classic. Prediction: KAIRI

World of Stardom Championship
Syuri (c) vs. Nanae Takahashi

The second of a double main event will watch Syuri take on another major test as she defends the World of Stardom Championship against the first-ever World of Stardom Champion, Nanae Takahashi. While this match doesn’t date back as far as the match between Saya Kamitani and KAIRI, it has been a match Syuri has wanted since becoming champion. More than anything, these two are going to have the most physical match of the night. Takahashi has slowed down a bit in 2022 after leaving SEAdLINNNG but the exit has proven to be a gift in disguise as she’s having one of her best years in a long time. Each match she participates in is often allowing her to showcase how good she still is all these years later. She’s game for this match.

Unfortunately for Takahashi, she will be facing a World of Stardom Champion who may go down as the most dominant in history when her reign ends. Syuri is dominance personified. Few wrestlers in STARDOM have had the success she’s had in her career to this point and she seems to be just getting started. Defeating Nanae Takahashi adds another realm of greatness to her title reign, entering her in (dare I say it) Io Shirai territory. This is a legacy match for Syuri. A win only bolsters her resume as an all-timer in STARDOM but a loss could see all of that go away. Despite being as good as she’s been, this is a must-win for Syuri and her Vermillion World. Prediction: Syuri
