Strap in for a very special Valentine’s Day edition of WWE NXT 2.0: Whoomp There It Is! The Superstars of the blue-yellow-purple-green-pink brand are ready to break hearts and show no mercy. Let’s go!

NXT North American Championship
Carmelo Hayes © vs. Cameron Grimes

Carmelo Hayes is the best thing going on WWE NXT 2.0 and I am very excited to see what he can do against the always underrated Cameron Grimes. Carmelo Hayes is taking time away from boinking OllieJayy to defend what he calls the “A Championship” of the brand. He’s been on a big run lately and this is the first defense of the title since unifying it with the WWE Cruiserweight title (in a certified banger against Roderick Strong). Grimes is good but I don’t think he’s been built up enough to be the one to dethrone Carmelo. The only reason why Carmelo could lose this match is for an eventual run with the NXT Championship. Prediction: Carmelo Hayes

NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) © vs. Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta

I’m very happy someone called in a search party for Toxic Attraction after they were kidnapped by Kay Lee Ray a couple of weeks ago on WWE NXT 2.0. They were back last week to help the always extravagant Mandy Rose retain her NXT Women’s title against KLR. While this was going on, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta have been engaged in a potential love rectangle with “No Longer a Poker Man” Duke Hudson and “Not That Serial Killer Named Dexter” Dexter Lumis. This could go either way and will surely be a Match of the Year contender! I’m putting my money on Indi and Persia so we can see if they can co-exist while Indi’s marriage hits a big Aussie speedbump on the road to WrestleMania Weekend’s NXT Stand & Deliver. Prediction: Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta

Weaponized Steel Cage Match
Pete Dunne vs. Tony D’Angelo

“We’re soldiers. Soldiers don’t go to hell. It’s war. Soldiers kill other soldiers. We’re in a situation where everyone involved knows the stakes and if you are going to accept those stakes, you’ve got to do certain things. It’s business.”

Truer words have never been spoken as “The Baddest Man” collides with “The Made Man” of Tuesday’s wildest show. This blood feud finally comes to a head after classic matches such as the NXT WarGames match and a star-system breaking Crowbar on a Pole match. Tony D’Angelo’s gimmick is one of the low points of WWE NXT 2.0 and Pete Dunne sticks out like a sore thumb on a show with wrestlers built like Team Lesnar at Survivor Series 2003. I think they see something in D’Angelo but a less cartoony of his gimmick will help bring him to the next (NXT?) level. This Weaponized Cage match should help give him a dastardly edge that he desperately needs. I’m not asking him to whack a guy, but he should be told to build a wheelchair ramp afterward at Dunne’s house. Prediction: Tony D’Angelo

Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals
MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) vs. The Creed Brothers (Brutus Creed & Julius Creed)

MSK won the Dusty Classic last year and might win it again. They beat Jacket Time and Malik Blade & Edris Enofé to reach this year’s finals. The Creed Brothers, of Diamond Mine, beat Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen and GYV to make it to the finals. This is a tag team match that will happen. The winners will challenge Imperium – GUNTHER’s stable – for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Diamond Mine has been feuding with Imperium so I’ll pick them. Prediction: The Creed Brothers

NXT Championship
Bron Breakker © vs. Santos Escobar

Santos Escobar was once a main event player in AAA and one of the top stars in Lucha Underground. Nowadays, he’s the fifth-wheel in his own NXT Championship match. To build to this match, Bron Breakker has formed a shaky tag team with former rival Tomasso Ciampa (can they co-exist?!?), engaged in a Twitter war with “14-years on the main roster” Dolph Ziggler, and fighting against Santos’ stable Legado Del Fantasma (they might be La Familia now, it’s not clear).

This should be a good, but weird, match. I’m not sure how well Breakker and Escobar’s styles will mesh. Breakker has been impressive so far and was the best guy to strap the rocket to in this new era of WWE NXT 2.0 but he was overshadowed by Ciampa and Ziggler during last Tuesday’s Championship Summit. I expect this to have tons of outside interference to build to the eventual Bron Breakker versus Dolph Ziggler match at NXT Stand & Deliver. Ciampa will get involved, as will Mendoza and Wilde. If the feuds do split, Ciampa may need some help to fend off La Familia. He can do it himself but that may be very difficult. Prediction: Bron Breakker
