This week on Wrestling Omakase we wrap up the G1 Climax with thoughts on the final two nights and a breakdown of everyone’s individual tournaments!
John is joined by returning guests Jeri Evagood (@TheJerriestJer) and Sean Sedor (@SASedor2994) as they start by discussing an eventful trip to Philadelphia to watch the NJPW Strong tapings, including all the details on their strange run-in with Will Ospreay and his weirdo fans. Once that’s out of the way the three of them turn their attentions to the final two nights of the G1 Climax, starting out with a full review of Night 18, the B Block finals. The three of them break down the Okada vs. Cobb match to decide the block, a great ending to Taichi’s ongoing storyline and more. Then they review a very eventful final night from earlier Thursday, including the enormous Katsuyori Shibata return and the shocking Kota Ibushi injury from the main event. They discuss what the Kota injury especially could mean for upcoming Wrestle Kingdom plans, and also break down Okada’s curveball request involving the old IWGP Heavyweight title.
They wrap up the show with a long breakdown of each individual wrestler’s G1s, as John & Sean each give their average star ratings for each block and all three discuss how they did, especially compared to their performances in past tournaments. Finally, they each give a quick top 10 matches for the tournament and John compares the two blocks by average rating as well.
