This week on Wrestling Omakase we review a pair of Night 5s from NJPW’s G1 Climax and NOAH’s N-1 Victory, plus break down another Korakuen show from All Japan!
John is joined by returning guest Gerard Di Trolio (@GerardDiTrolio), and they start out the show by discussing what it was like attending their first ever live GCW show on Friday. John ends up giving a bit of a mini-review, though focused on what it was like as a live experience. Once that’s out of the way they turn their attention to New Japan’s G1 Climax, as the two of them break down Night 5 of the tournament. They discuss another strong night of G1 Climax action (well, from everyone except Toru Yano), and how everyone (again, except Yano) is working hard and having good matches in general. They then break down the standings so far and look ahead to the next A block night on Thursday.
Then John & Gerard head over to Pro Wrestling NOAH for Night 5 of their N-1 Victory tournament, which happens to be the final round robin night. They break down all eight matches, a mix of pretty good, pretty bad and pretty great, and discuss what they thought of the tournament as a whole. John then gives you the final standings, their top 5 matches of the tournament, and finally the average star ratings for every participant. The two of them also give their predictions on how they see next week’s semis and finals going.
The show concludes with a review of All Japan Pro Wrestling’s 9/21 Korakuen, a good show but one that wasn’t quite as good as some of AJPW’s other recent efforts. John discusses their exacerbation with Jake Lee as a heel, as they review the entire card. Finally, they go over upcoming shows from AJPW including the Ota Ward Gym show coming up in a few weeks and the announced Real World Tag League blocks.
