Tam Nakano def. Mina Shirakawa & Hina

For all the opening triple threat matches that they do, this was a really unique and fun one to take in. Two Cosmic Angels made up two-thirds of this match while Queen’s Quest was represented by Hina. The fun aspect of this one was that Tam Nakano got sick of Mina Shirakawa’s taunting at one point and ultimately turned on her with Hina helping. A final stretch allowing Hina to get some good offense on the Wonder of Stardom Champion before Nakano ended it made for a really enjoyable opening match. **1/2

5 STAR GP: Blue Stars Block
Konami (2) def. Unagi Sayaka (4)

After a strong 2-0 start for Unagi Sayaka in the 5 STAR Grand Prix, a loss to World of Stardom Champion Utami Hayashishita despite a solid effort made for potential landslide down the rankings if Sayaka can’t get back to her early winning ways. Her chance to do that came against Konami just two nights after. Unfortunately for Sayaka, Konami’s technical prowess was too much to overcome. Every time Sayaka neared a good combination of offense, she was met with kicks, strikes, and more pain than one can handle. The Triangle Lancer was eventually locked in and it marked the first win for Konami in the tournament. A fine match that had a slow, worrisome opening that got a lot better as time went on. **3/4

5 STAR GP: Blue Stars Block
Maika def. AZM

AZM being fresh off maybe the second-biggest upset in the entire tournament against Syuri to take on Maika added some special feel to this match. From what we got, it was quite enjoyable as AZM and Maika’s styles worked well together as speed met power in various ways that would make a longer match be great if they were to ever get one. The main complaint here is that it went so fast that if you blinked, you would have missed it. Maika won once again with the Michinoku Driver II and show that she could be the dark horse favorite to win this entire tournament. At six points now with wins over Utami Hayashishita, Ruaka, and AZM, she will need to pull off two more major wins and she will have a shot at this. Good match overall that can be great with 5-10 more minutes. ***

Starlight Kid, Saki Kashima, Rina, & Ruaka def. Mayu Iwatani, Koguma, Hanan, & Lady C

Seeing that we have seen some version of STARS versus Oedo Tai month after month after month, this still managed to feel very fresh. Having the likes of Starlight Kid, Rina, Hanan, and Lady C added some change to the match which made for some entertaining exchanges and an overall enjoyable watch. Mayu Iwatani and Starlight Kid were fantastic as the MK Sisters, but they seem destined to be even better as the MK Rivals. Their chemistry was on display in this one, even if it didn’t last too long. Lady C doing a swing was also cool but this was Ruaka’s chance to pick up a big win for Oedo Tai. ***

Giulia, Syuri, & Natsupoi vs. Utami Hayashishita, Momo Watanabe, & Saya Kamitani

Anytime that Donna del Mondo and Queen’s Quest face-off, you know it will at the very least be a solid match. That proved to be the case here. The consistency was there for both sides but the mace was nowhere near as we have seen for the majority of this year when they go at. Though the closing stretch between Natsupoi and Utami Hayashishita was a fun one, making it a shame we will not be seeing a singles match between them anytime soon. A good performance by both sides in the midst of the most grueling tournament Stardom has to offer. We’ll take what we can get. ***1/4
