WORLD WONDER RING STARDOM
ROAD TO YOKOHAMA DREAM CINDERELLA
MARCH 7, 2021
KORAKUEN HALL
TOKYO, JAPAN

Watch: Stardom-World

Stardom follows up their Nippon Budokan debut by taking a trip to Korakuen Hall.  We will see bald Giulia wrestle for the first time while the Artist Of Stardom title picture takes center stage with a number one contenders match for the titles as well as the titles being on the line in the main event

GIULIA DEF. GOKIGEN DEATH

Following her loss to Tam Nakano, Giulia is starting from the bottom, hence she’s working the opener at Korakuen Hall.  Giulia has gone all in on the change as she has very simple new gear, gone is the fancy robe and the professional clothing.  She also has a new demeanor, no longer does the arrogance radiate from her, nor did she pose all that much during her entrance.  This new Giulia actually played along in some ways with Death’s antics which helped make this a fun opener as she had some fun with Death instead of just beating her down.  The old Giulia crept in a bit at the end as she pinned Death with a foot on her chest instead of giving her the respect of a proper pin, I wonder how long the humble act stays before the cracks begin to show. **1/2

KONAMI DEF. LADY C

This was a very one-sided win to get Konami some momentum back following her defeat to Syuri at Budokan.  Solid stuff. **

ELIMINATION #1 CONTENDERS MATCH
QUEEN’S QUEST (SAYA KAMITANI, AZM & MOMO WATANABE) DEF. DONNA DEL MONDO (MAIKA,HIMEKA & NATSUPOI), & OEDO TAI (SAKI KASHIMA, RUAKA & NATSUKO TORA)

This was an all-action elimination match that did a nice job of putting some spotlight on Saki Kashima.  Kashima got a string of eliminations thanks to her Revival finisher including pinning the Goddess Of Stardom champions.  Saya Kamitani got the win for her team with the Star Crusher which indicates that her push isn’t slowing down after her defeat at All Star Dream Cinderella ***1/4

BEA PRIESTLEY DEF. UTAMI HAYASHISHITA, & SYURI

This match was a vehicle to get Priestley another win over Hayashishita.  The action was good and they kept the match short enough so they didn’t give much stuff away but the main goal was to continue the story that Bea Priestley has Utami Hayashishita’s number, a story they started telling last year before Bea had to leave due to COVID. ***1/4

ARTIST OF STARDOM CHAMPIONSHIPS
COSMIC ANGELS (TAM NAKANO, MINA SHIRAKAWA & UNAGI SAYAKA) DEF. STARS (MAYU IWATANI, STARLIGHT KID & SAYA IIDA)

The Cosmic Angels run of form continues as they once again defeat their big rivals STARS.  This match was made months ago before Shirakawa’s injury sidelined her but this show was the best spot for it in all honesty as it was a really strong win off the back of Tam and Sayaka’s wins at the Budokan show.  The match itself wasn’t much to write home about as these two teams have had better matches, and could easily have a belter together given the growing tension between the members of both groups. ***1/2

FINAL THOUGHTS

This show didn’t do a lot to excite me but it did act as a good way to kick off the next storytelling cycle for Stardom.  Saki Kashima showing up big in the elimination match, Bea pinning Utami, the new Giulia, and Cosmic Angels getting a big win over STARS all seem to be building to things down the line.  A show like this, while not a show of the year candidate is what was needed after All Star Dream Cinderella which felt like the ultimate climax of all the companies stories over the past few months.  Now its time to kick off some more ahead of Stardom running the Yokohama Budokan and Ota Ward in the coming months
