REAL WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2020 MATCH
VIOLENT GIANTS (SUWAMA & SHUJI ISHIKAWA) [2] DEF. PURPLE HAZE (SHIGEHIRO IRIE & IZANAGI) [0] (11:48)

Irie and Ishikawa, from all of the years in and around DDT, not surprisingly have good chemistry in the ring. After a hot start from those two, Izanagi got worked over by the Giants for a while. Izanagi sells well and when he does manage to make a comeback to make the hot tag, he does it in a fairly credible way against opponents much bigger than he is. Purple Haze in general got a good amount of offense during the match including near falls, and Izanagi kicked out of some big moves. Ishikawa used the Splash Mountain victory over Izanagi. This was a solid tag match. Purple Haze has been the nicest surprise of the tournament so far. ***1/4

REAL WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2020 MATCH
DAISUKE SEKIMOTO & ABDULLAH KOBAYASHI [4] DEF. ENFANTS TERRIBLES (SHOTARO ASHINO & KUMA ARASHI) [2] (11:06)

This didn’t take long before there was brawling on the outside. Kobayashi didn’t help things here, but getting Ashino versus Sekimoto was a nice treat and they worked well together. This time, however Kobayashi’s presence was kept much smaller than on the opening night of the tournament. Sekimoto got the win over Arashi with a German Suplex after Kobayashi hit Arashi with a top-rope Elbow Drop. Hopefully this much smarter use of Kobayashi in this match is the pattern that the rest of Team Big Japan’s matches use in the tournament. This was pretty good, mainly for the Sekimoto and Ashino interactions, but Ashino and Arashi also worked well together. ***1/4

REAL WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2020 MATCH
JIN (JAKE LEE & KOJI IWAMOTO) [4] DEF. YOSHITATSU & RYOUJI SAI [0] (13:20)

Lee and Yoshitatsu started with some good grappling. Iwamoto, as the Jr. Heavyweight eventually got worked over for an extended period. Sai and Yoshitatsu began to show some chemistry as a tag team here, and did several double-team moves. Closing stretch between Lee and Yoshitatsu was pretty good with Lee eventually getting the upper hand and hitting the Backdrop Suplex on Yoshitatsu for the win after some fast paced back-and-forth action. I thought the working over of Iwamoto was a little lackluster, but things really picked up by the end. ***1/2

FINAL THOUGHTS

This was a solid show. But there is nothing worth going out of your way to see if you don’t have the time. The undercard was fine, but not as good as the first night of the tournament. But as I have written after Night 1, this tournament so far is beginning to wash the bad taste of the Champion Carnival out of my mouth.
