WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
SHINGO TAKAGI & TERRIBLE (12) DEF. YUJI NAGATA & MANABU NAKANISHI (2)

This felt was the best Nagata/Nakanishi match of the entire tournament and surprisingly it came at the hands of Shingo Takagi. Shingo beats Nakanishi with the Pumping Bomber, I love it when guys win with their second or third signature move. It makes the finish feel more special when the wrestler has to crack it out to win. **3/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
BAD LUCK FALE & CHASE OWENS (8) DEF. JEFF COBB & MIKEY NICHOLS (14)

An average match that absolutely did not need to go 12 minutes, a tidy 8 minutes would’ve sufficed. we’re 13 nights into this tournament, I don’t need to see Fale stomp on Jeff Cobb for six minutes. When Cobb and Nichols started their comeback this actually got pretty decent and Chase and Nichols had a nice closing stretch. Got to give to Nichols for finding his feet in this company and this wasn’t even his best showing. Unsurprisingly the Osaka crowd was 100 times better than the Shiga crowd from yesterday which pumped some life into some of these more average matches. **1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
KENTA & YUJIRO TAKAHASHI (12) DEF. TORU YANO & COLT CABANA (16)

This was a fun little match. Not too overbearing on the comedy but Yano and Colt still did their schtick in the context of trying to win a wrestling match. After a few nice near falls for Colt, KENTA beat him and his own game by rolling Colt up and getting his feet on the ropes. ***

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
ZACK SABRE JR. & TAICHI (12) DEF. HIROOKI GOTO & KARL FREDERICKS (4)

It’s not news if you’ve read any of my reviews that I think Fredericks is a can’t miss guy and he looked fantastic in this match. This match was really good, Dangerous Tekkerz has had a great tournament and should be a regular team. We all know Zack is great but Taichi has been the MVP of this already impressive team, he’s showed some great fire and been involved in some great closing stretches. I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t seen it but this gets a recommendation just for the finish. ***1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
TAMA TONGA & TANGA LOA (18) DEF. HIROSHI TANAHASHI & TOA HENARE (4)

The crowd for this show was pretty lively all night, they were not too lively for this, a match with Hiroshi Tanahashi in it. Tells you all you need to about how people think of the tag champs. Admittedly not all the blame can go to G.O.D for this one, Tana looked like he wanted to be anyway else in the world and Henare looks like the toll of carrying the in-ring load for his team all tour is starting to wear him down. **3/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
EVIL & SANADA (20) DEF. MINORU SUZUKI & LANCE ARCHER (14)

A really good match from two teams that have been really good all tour. It is mind-boggling to me that Gedo just didn’t pull the trigger on EVIL and SANADA as the aces of this tag division for the last two years, they have good matches and they always get great crowd reactions. Archer and EVIL has some great hoss exchanges and I really liked the finish of SANADA getting Suzuki with a flash pin. I already wrote about wrestlers using their secondary finishes but I really like how SANADA’s secondary finish seems to be those bridging pins. ***1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
JUICE ROBINSON & DAVID FINLAY (18) DEF. TOMOHIRO ISHII & YOSHI-HASHI (16)

Say what you want about the World Tag League this year but more often than not it’s produced some banger main events and this was one of them. Finjuice—despite being held together by athletic tape—are so good at pushing the pace and having these fast-paced matches that don’t feel rushed. Of course, main event Ishii is great and YOSHI-HASHI continued his fine tournament form – I wonder if YOSHI-HASHI carry this form on in the long term or will revert back to being wet laundry post-tournament. The result all but eliminates the CHAOS duo however they stay relevant in the tournament by being able to play spoiler to G.O.D on the final night. ***3/4

FINAL THOUGHTS

After the last handful of shows this was a breath of fresh air. The hot Osaka crowd certainly helped but this was all in all a much more entertaining show top to bottom. I can recommend the main event, the semi-main and the Dangerous Tekkerz v Goto/Fredericks match.
