WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
LANCE ARCHER AND MINORU SUZUKI (6) DEF YUJI NAGATA & MANABU NAKANISHI (2)

Slow-paced and sloppy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, someone high up needs to sit Nakanishi down to discuss his immediate in-ring future. Suzuki and Nagata did some fun albeit brief things with each other before Archer wins with the EDB Claw. **

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
BAD LUCK FALE & CHASE OWENS (4) DEF. TOGI MAKABE & TOMOAKI HONMA (6)

Unfortunately, it might be time to have that sit down conversation with Honma too. The people still love him, but some of his work looks really rough. This match was just there, Chase was really good in it as he always and he got a decent closing stretch out of Honma. **1/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
TORU YANO & COLT CABANA (8) DEF. HIROSH TANAHASHI & TOA HENARE (4)

You have to feel for Henare, he tries so hard, he’s teaming with The Ace and he’s eating pins left and right. The match itself was fine, there was a lot of comedy based around the turnbuckles and turnbuckle pads and a match can only peak so high when it’s built around turnbuckle pads. A bonk on the head with said turnbuckle pad and a Superman Pin gave Colt and Yano the win. **3/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
TOMOHIRO ISHII & YOSHI-HASHI (10) DEF. SATOSHI KOJIMA & HIROYOSHI TENZAN (6)

First off I need to apologize to Tenzan. I sort of buried him in my preview, saying he’s old and broken essentially but Tenkoji has been really good in this tournament and although Kojima has been doing the heavy lifting Tenzan has carried his weight. This was really good, fast-paced and pretty exciting. There was this one spot where Ishii was about to lariat Tenzan and Kojima pushed him out of the way and ate the lariat and DIDN’T BUDGE! popped me big time. Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI have to ten points and we have now have a tie at the top o the table with Ishii/YOSHI-HASHI and Finjuice. ***1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
SHINGO TAKAGI & TERRIBLE (6) DEF. KENTA & YUJIRO TAKAHASHI (6)

Shingo is so exciting to watch, when he’s on offense you just ride every move with him. Another pretty good match here, that actually got me excited for a Shingo/KENTA match, which is surely something that will happen in the near future. Terrible has improved from his first few iffy performances in the tournament and is now filling his role quite nicely and Yujiro is acceptable in short and sweet bursts. ***1/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE  2019
JEFF COBB & MIKEY NICHOLS (8) DEF. ZACK SABRE JR. & TAICHI (4)

Dangerous Tekkerz respond from their bad night 6 match with a banger. This was so good. The best Cobb has looked all tournament and the best ‘Mad’ Mikey has looked maybe ever in this company. I was ready to tear this apart when they were doing a long heat spot on Cobb, but it worked out for the best. Nichols with Zack on his back with choke locked in walking over to Taichi who had a Boston Crab locked in on Cobb and wailing on him to break the submission was awesome. Cobb and taichi had a great closing sequence where Cobb looked incredible. Very, very good stuff. ***3/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2019
EVIL & SANADA (10) DEF. TAMA TONGA & TANGA LOA (6)

More crowd brawling from G.O.D to kick this one didn’t go for nearly as long as their night 6 brawl, fortunately.¬† Once this got back in the ring this got awesome. EVIL and SANADA looked like mega stars in this match, when I was watching it I was thinking to myself ‘Yeah they should probably just win this whole thing again.’ The Guerillas were perfect foils for them in this match too, playing their part to perfection. A great near fall off a low blow and roll up towards the end got me hook, line and sinker…that’s why G.O.D were winning their first couple of matches like that. going to go out on a limb and say this was the second-best match across the entire tournament so far. Great match. ****

FINAL THOUGHTS

After the third match, this show became excellent and I recommend watching those final 4 matches, especially the main and semi-main. After 7 nights we have a three-way tie on top with EVIL and SANADA, Finjuice and Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI all sitting on 10 points. This has become an interesting little tournament.
