Watch: Stardom World

Stardom returns to Korakuen with three titles on the line. Arisa Hoshiki makes defense number one of her Wonder Of Stardom title against her STARS teammate Tam Nakano, TCS defend the Artist championships against Oedo Tai as Hana and OT’s bad blood continues and the unstoppable Utami and Momo defend their Goddesses titles as they look to pick up where they left off before Utami’s injury

Leo Onozaki Def. Hina

A fine opener from two of the less experienced roster members in Stardom. Hina has grown quite a bit since her debut and is coming along well now that she’s away from her sisters more.  Leo gets her first singles win ever something I can see being a rarity for her due to her age (25) **

Tokyo Cyber Squad (Death Yama-San, Ruaka & Bobbi Tyler) Def. STARS (Saki Kashima, Zoe Lucas & Saya Iida)

This was ok, Yama and Saki were the glue that held it together and Ruaka and Iida did their best but Tyler and Lucas were a clear step behind everyone else. Lucas turned heel on STARS to help get TCS the win and joins TCS because Stardom’s biggest faction definitely needs more members *1/2

Queen’s Quest (Bea Priestley & AZM) Def. STARS (Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid)

No matter how many times SLK and AZM start a match with a fast-paced exchange it never gets old. The STARS duo had very synchronized offense that fits their similar in-ring styles and I wouldn’t mind seeing them have a run as a tag team. Whenever the match boiled down to two competitors it was at it’s best, AZM and SLK impressed, the short sequence between Priestley and Iwatani made me want a singles match and the end with Priestley and SLK they put over Priestley as stronger and better but SLK was crafty with her offense. Very enjoyable match ***1/2

Artist Of Stardom Championship
Tokyo Cyber Squad (Konami, Hana Kimura & Jungle Kyona) (c) Def. Oedo Tai (Kagetsu, Natsu Sumire & Andras Miyagi)

I like that the history between Kimura and Oedo Tai isn’t forgotten as both teams go right for one another at the bell and begin brawling immediately. This quickly fell into the usual pattern for Artist title matches and settled into a good rhythm as all six competitors are good workers.  Compared to the last Artist defense this one was decent but still very fun. Kagetsu taking the loss was a surprising choice but gives Hana a big win heading into 5 star GP.  ***1/2

Goddesses Of Stardom Championship
Queen’s Quest (Momo Watanabe & Utami Hayashishita) (c) Def. Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora & Hazuki)

While the result was never really in doubt the four competitors had me buying into some of the Oedo Tai near falls.  This mostly served as a reminder for how good Utami and Momo are as a team after they’d cooled off during Utami’s injury.  This was a strong win to heat them back up as they beat one of stardom’s champions and a former Goddesses champion. My main takeaway from this match was that I want Momo vs Hazuki ASAP ***3/4

Wonder Of Stardom Championship
Arisa Hoshiki (c) Def. Tam Nakano

This one started out slow which was strange given the relationship between these two. Eventually, they got much more violent and began unleashing kicks to the head, what looked like a shoot headbutt and lots of strikes on one another.  Whatever grudge these two had they laid it all out in the ring trying to defeat one another. What really stood out here was the performance of Arisa Hoshiki, she has big boots to fill after beating Momo Watanabe for this title and she proved she was more than ready here. She sold really well for Tam and made her look like a serious threat but also hit Tam with everything she had and was on point with all of her kicks and knee strikes. This match wasn’t stiff in a show-offy wat but instead was reminiscent of the old Hotta or Kandori matches from AJW where everything just looks like it hurt a lot.  My MOTY so far I really liked this match.  ****3/4
