WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi (6) Def. Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida (0)

I got to give them credit; there were a few moments where I bought into the Young Lions winning which of course was never happening so well done to them. Like all 13 of these Young Lions they are technically fine but nothing too exciting. **3/4

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan (10) Def. Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka (10)

Completely average match, Tencozy won with a moonsault, which still cool to see but because he has already hit it once this tournament it loses its impact a bit. **1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi (16) Def.  Togi Makabe & Toa Henare (8)

Thought this was a bit better than the previous matches. I’m afraid Zack and Taichi may have lost there standing as best in-ring team in the tournament but still close to the top. Henare should be in the singles tournaments next year, Makabe should not be but sadly for me, he will. ***

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Juice Robinson & David Finlay (16) Def. Beretta & Chuckie T (14)

Another DQ to Chuckie, the thing I like most about the Chuckie angle is that there have been little variations every time, this time he pile drove the referee. Angle aside this match was really good and unlike the Tama DQs in the G1 the Chuckie one doesn’t take away from the match. ***1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Hangman Page & Yujiro Takahashi (10) Def. Michael Elgin & Jeff Cobb (16)

Damn, Hangman was so awesome in this match, I know he has never been bad so to speak but this year he really turned a corner. I think Cobb was a bit disappointed in this tour, whether his shoulder injury was holding him back or that he was always the heat guy but he just didn’t have the same impact as in last year’s WTL which is weird considering this year is a lot better. ***1/2

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
EVIL & SANADA (20) Def. Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. (18)

Three in a row for the pretty good matches! These two teams had a great match back in January and the rematch was the match of the night in April. This was probably the worst in the trilogy, however still pretty good with a frantic closing stretch with SANADA surprising Archer with a Hurricanrana Invertida that I thought Archer kicked out of and could’ve easily just been a botch. Still worth checking out if you like these teams. ***½

WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 MATCH
Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa (20) Def. Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano (18)

Gee wiz this was a disappointment. This was super Yano heavy or at least felt like it was and it wasn’t even Yano comedy it was just him getting beat up forever. Legit almost put me to sleep and watched this in the middle of the day. After the match, G.O.D called out EVIL and SANADA who they will be facing in the final and had the most awkward stare down to absolute crickets. ***

Final Thoughts:

A pretty nothing show that built to an uninspired final. My masters might have been right on this weeks flagship show, this tournament might be overrated. It was the best edition I’ve seen since I started watching New Japan but there were just too many matches. The one block format where you watch every team night after night wears you down. In case you were wondering why I didn’t review the 8-man tag, it was because I was busy doing my Christmas shopping on voicesofwrestling.com/amazon.
