Michael Elgin & Jeff Cobb (8) Def. Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida (0)

These guys had a fast-paced, hard-hitting, heck of a little match. The crowd was hot for this as they were all night and it really adds some intensity and fire to these lower card matches. ***1/4

Juice Robinson & David Finlay (8) Def. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi (2)

I’d say this was the worst match on the show and even this was just good. Nakanishi is still very average but even he popped a smile out of me when he did his flying cross body on Juice and Finlay. ***

Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan (6) Def. Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer (8)

I hate to sound clichéd, but this match was a ton of fun, especially the closing sequence. The finish caught me so by surprise I popped on my couch. Never in a million years did I think I’d say Hiroyoshi Tenzan – the man who walks on the edges of his feet, do a top rope moonsault in 2018. The crowd went ballistic, Kojima was celebrating, the crowd was chanting. This reaction would make you think they just won the World Tag League, not the third match of night 10. Good stuff. ***1/4

Togi Makabe & Toa Henare (4) Def. Beretta & Chuckie T (8)

Now, this was a pretty good match, just sort of chugging along, building to the finish and then Henare head-butted Chuckie and he snapped. Chuckie was throwing Henare into guardrails, scoop slamming him on piles of chairs onto the outside and then he threw chairs and a table into the ring, hitting Henare ‘Sabu style’ back in the ring causing the DQ.  The beat-down did not stop there, eventually, in his blind rage Chuckie punched Beretta and stormed off. Wow, we’ve seen beat-downs more violent but this was so unexpected it really worked. I’m interested to see where they go from here, as it didn’t seem like a full-blown heel turn or a break-up. Good match, good angle. ***1/2

Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa (10) Def. Hangman Page & Yujiro Takahashi (6)

Fast-paced and frantic, two good matches in a row now for G.O.D after a pretty poor start and this was better than their previous one. This had some feeling and tension, as it was Bullet Club vs. Elite and the crowd played into that well. The Jado interferences felt more personal and served more of a purpose than just easy heat. Full recommendation. ***3/4

Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi (10) Def. Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka (6)

We might have a new match of the tournament here folks. A fantastic first 5 minutes between Zack and Suzuki, you can go right ahead and just inject that match into my veins, please. Iizuka was even entertaining which all his biting shtick. The closing stretch was also fantastic. Just go watch it. ****

EVIL & SANADA (12) Def. Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano (10)

Another little banger! After being very down on Yano he’s actually been pretty good which just shows the influence of my WTL reviews. The near falls were exciting as both teams were 5 and 1 you could sort of talk yourself into the CHAOS team winning. However, that was not to be and SANADA picks up the win after a hot closing stretch. I was teetering on 4 stars for this one but it just wasn’t quite at the level of the match before it in my opinion. ***3/4

Jay White, Bad Luck Fale & Taiji Ishimori Def. Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & KUSHIDA

This was a pretty good match but a clear step down from the previous 3 matches though. It was cool to see Tana and Kazu teaming up and given some results at WrestleKingdom I can see them teaming up in a pure 2 v 2 tag match at one of the New Beginning main events. Jay announces this is the cutthroat era of the Bullet Club to a chorus of boos to end the show. ***1/4

Final Thoughts:

A really good show. If you have the two and a half hours, watch the whole show, if you don’t; the Tenzan moonsault, the Chuckie angle and the last three league matches are all worth watching.
